...of having Coldplays God Put A Smile On Your Face on the A Playlist when they arent even releasing it. I dont see them putting any other album tracks on the playlist, let alone the A List. How much did Coldplay pay them to get them to shift more copies of their album? I must be the only one who hasnt got it. Im not saying its a bad song, im saying "Wheres the fairness" in relation to other bands who actually release singles that they people to hear.

I think they released it internationally only, so maybe its on there for the benefit of those listening abroad on their digital radio's they keep going on about. It is a good song but I agree it shouldn't really be on there.

Why not? we're alwasy complaining that the playlist is bad and thats generally because its normally made up of just singles which means Radio 1 have less to choose from when compiling the lists. If a song is good, like Coldplay, then why not have it on the list? It makes for better listening. Radio 1 isn't just about an advert for singles, it's about entertainment. If it was an advert for singles it would play all the singles that are being released and that would make for bad listening ala local radio. I aplaud them for not following the band wagon in this case and for playlisting an unreleased song purely on its merit!

I didn't think they were allowed to release album songs unless given the express permisson of the band and label. Dunno why.

Radio 2 have the right idea of putting albums on their playlist aswell, rather than just singles.

But Radio 2 also dont have the right idea by letting Kate Thorton fill in for Richard Allinson next week.

They played Don't Panic too, and they only released that internationally.

its not that, its a popularity contest and Coldplay are top at the moment. I would allow if it was because it was a new album but its been out a year.

good job you aint the boss eh bob? its better than coldplay screwing their fans by releasing another single from the album. i'd rather they played an album track than an old single...
