How closely can companies monitor internet access from individuals? just wondering out of interest no other reason at all....

They can do it very closely if they like, depends on the company policies, if you have a company email they can monitor that as well.

They can also have a program called (I think) PC Anywhere where the admin can log in to your computer and see exactly what you're doing. Plus, if anything dodgy shows up alarm bells could start ringing.

Interested to know what you've been looking at now Monsieur Dog... :wink:

They can look on your History & stuff like that as well if they wanted to I'm sure, I always delete that though along with my cookies & temp internet files, I don't know if it makes a difference but at least there's nothing there if they go snooping on my computer!! I'm sure there's probably some way of knowing how much is going out/going into your computer?

Yeah, they could find out exactly what you're looking at if they wanted to, but to be honest an ISP must have thousands of subscribers. Do you really think they'd spend hours trying to find out what each one of those subscribers are doing? Your safety is in numbers.

If you're talking about the company where you work, then you're not as safe, it depends how many computers have access to the internet.

Do you not have an Internet acceptable use policy kind of thing that you signed? When I started my job they told me that I can't look at porn, can't do this, can't download games etc - although they're flexible about that because it's so quiet a lot of the time, but they basically told me what I can & can't do & what would happen if I did.

They can definitely monitor email, someone told me a lot of companies scan incoming & outgoing emails, for rude words & so on, I know at my old job someone sent me an email with a lot of swear words in it & it never got through to me.

At all? At my old job I don't think we were meant to, but I did a little bit & nobody ever said anything to me - didn't go overboard though.

At the moment I'm working part time in a call centre, & we can basically use it as much as we like while we're not taking calls as it's VERY quiet, & if you're not taking a call there's nothing else to do really...

yeah my deadline is this friday. i finished the work monday afternoon. im now doing work for a deadline next month. i hate to say my job is easy but...

im a trainee accountant for local council adam. who says they do nothing eh?
