Just added a link.

I do actually feel sick. That's a really awful story.

Oh God, do you think they were really egging him on? "I told you I was hardcore" - thats so sad though isn't it. That someone would go to those lengths. I don't feel sick exactly, just kinda sad that this sort of thing goes on. Poor guy, how old was he?

I don't know. I actually don't want to think about it any more. I wish I hadn't heard it actually.

Incase anyone's interested, there is a better report from the BBC. It's quite upsetting though:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/2724819.stm

He was only 21. That whats worrying about the net, you never know whats going on in peoples heads, and whether they mean what they say.

I strikes me as being someone who craved a bit of attention and that was the only way he thought he could get it.

The analogy you could make is how many people have died taking drugs in the company of their everyday mates? I bet some of them have been egged on as well, which is worse to be honest, because if you actually know someone personally, you should know how far they will go and whether they can take it.

What, the bloke that did it? Personally I reckon if someone has to go to these sort of lengths to get attention, admiration and some twisted form of love and acceptence there is something seriously wrong with this world, not him.

Mary's got the same size hands
As Marilyn Monroe
She put her fingers in the imprints
At Manns Chinese Theater Show
She coulda been a movie star
Never got the chance to go that far
Her life was stole
Now we'll never know

I'm assuming there are imprints of MM hands there. Tis true though, I'm a firm believer in the saying 'a cry for help'. Problem is does it apply to the individual, the people around them or society in general?

I knew the boulevard thing, didn't know thats what the theatre was called though. I've really got to do something about my film and hollywood knowledge considering I'm supposed to be taking an A-level in it.

Shouldn't it be "her life was stolen"?

Does "stole" not make sense or is it just me?

I think this whole incident has highlighted the problems some people have in seeing where the internet fits into life. Some see the internet as a magical other-world, with no real connection to reality. But in truth it is as real as a conversation with somebody in the same room - if those kids had all been in the same room, would they have been egging Ripper on to take all the pills?

People can pull through any problem, emotional, psychological, etc, including addiction. It may be a long way down in the lows, but that doesn't make it a bottomless pit, just harder to get out of. People can do so much good even after the worst experiences.

Oh, I totally agree. It's a shame "stolen" doesn't rhyme with "know"... - jc
