Something that occured to me the other day while studying the importance of promotion for Hollywood stars (film studies AS). I was watching Faking It a couple of months ago and a director came out with "Celebrities aren't like normal people - they're a different race" Got me thinking - is this true? Because some seem to be relatively normal but most look like they're from a different planet. It makes me wonder if you could ever be 'normal' in that kind of envioroment, including 'down to earth' people like Chris. With all this John Leslie/Angeus Deayton drugs stuff it seems to be the lifestyle and pressure that leads people down that slippery road. Anyway, after all that my question is - Aled, what are celebrities like really? Are they what they promote or something completly different when the publics backs are turned? In general I mean - no names if you don't want to. Be honest now! Sorry about the speech folks but its someat that interests me.

well if you think about it there are hundreds of c list celebrities like the ones you mentioned, i dont think proportionally they are any different to everyone else in some of them having those sorts of problems. i dont think being a minor celebrity has that much affect on people like being a major one would. i mean life isnt that much different for them, most of them live in perfectly normal middle class houses and go about normal lives, perhaps getting recognised by a few people along the way.

Q1 - What's a celebrity? Q2 - where's the line when someone moves from being normal to being a celebrity?

From what I've found everyone's normal. They're all normal. Go to the loo, go shopping, cry over relationship breakups, get dumped, go out with people, have dull days and showbiz days. I've found the level of showbizness that defines how famous someone is, is defined when they work. The ones who are ultra famous are the ones who are lost in their own work/showbusiness. I can honeslty say there is no-one at Radio 1 who's like that. I;d say very few in Britain - you'd find them in America mainly.

you'll find every job, every line of work, every walk of life there are people rightly or wrongly who take drugs. It's just that the papers would't give a poo to Joe Bloggs who snorts the odd line. However a celebrity will make the front page so it makes the papers giving the impression that it's just the showbiz ones who are dysfunctional.

There are a lot more partying in showbiz, but then anyone who goes partying - whatever the job would be in the same enviornment. Does that answer the question?

Yup, thankyou, was just something I was wondering about. Living in Wolverhampton I don't get much contact with the crazy world of showbusiness, so you can see why it would interest someone like me, I have no way of finding out how it all works.

Does Chris keep his awards in the toilet? If you got awards would you keep them in the toilet?

) but I'm afraid it will only become useful when you mention the duration of each track, news, jingle, trail and bed that Chris uses.

every individual clip. Even if it's the same clip of different durations 20 times running.

It keeps me busy.
