Thanks, although I've edited anyway just because it doesn't take long, and I've gotten used to listening to the show in the style of the editing that I do (so show is up).

Having said that, I can't see me editing Wed 23rd or Xmas Day until probably the 28th because I just don't think I'll have time, so if you do edit those two shows then feel free to upload them in case anyone wants edited versions to listen to. I'll no doubt still put my edits on the Wiki again for consistency, but I'm sure a lot of people would be pleased to have edited versions to listen to before the 28th.

Oh. I also recorded it. Here's a backup, then:

TCMS Unedited Wednesday 23rd December, 2015

Clean Streamwriter capture. Topped and tailed with MP3DirectCut. MP3, 128kbps, Stereo, 3h:28m, 192MB

Jay, you should use the generic archive.org link, don't link to a specific server, as that can go away.

ianpwilliams wrote:I'll edit that show and Xmas Day show next week. If anyone else was going to edit anyway then please do upload it, as I for one would listen to that, and then put my edits on the Wiki next week. If not then there's always the full shows to listen to.

Can't promise I'll do the xmas day show but I've done today's anyway: https://archive.org/download/20151223RadioXMoylesEdited/20151223%20Radio%20X%20Moyles%20Edited.mp3

Merry Christmas all, as a nice treat you can have today's (pre-recorded) Christmas day special show before midday! (Almost)

P.S. The random jingles playing in at 13 mins & 15 mins aren't mine or Neil's fault, some work experience tech op left the wrong fader up.

Thanks Luke.

I'm back on the case now, so I'm happy to start editing the live shows when they come back. Is it the 11th they come back?

Anyway, my edits of the 23rd and 25th (without Platinum Hour) are up, and here is the 25th including the Platinum Hour:

Sorry. Not been on forum for ages.

Not sure if quality same - think if just saving from browser its not as good quality?? The file size of the edited ones are about 50% bigger than the whole show downloaded from Listen Again - so maybe that means not as good quality??

asy1mpo wrote:If you want the full version, what I do is go to the Radio X player and Listen Again and to the episode you want. I then view the source and search for .mp4.

Its the one starting http that you will want

e.g. audioUrl: 'http://fs.geronimo.thisisglobal.com/audio/41d7c10ad6ba4813b8578dc0119364ed.mp4'

Just copy that into browser and then either listen in the browser or I save it myself - just in browser File-> Save Page As.

I also just literally change the extension to mp3 from mp4 - so it opens in my audio player rather than the player I use for videos.

Not only can you download the file in Chrome at least I can just copy-paste that URL into a new browser tab and get a minimal player. I haven't listened more than a couple of minutes but fingers crossed this might alleviate the hassle of using their crummy streaming player... the underlying MP3 file is fine. You also could just download this as the unedited show if you don't want to record it (or do both). This way might also track as a play for their stats, which is preferable.

How does this compare quality-wise with the Streamwriter version? I thought that doing it this way resulted in a poorer quality unedited show, which would be fine for just listening, but not so much for editing. But I may be wrong.

Sometimes the listen again is at 48kbps, sometimes 128kbps. It may be at other, intermediate bitrates aa well.

Live recordings (Streamwriter) are always at 128kbps.

Also, Radio X seem to have problems recording their own material. Their podcasts have their own clips played back at too high levels, causing clipping (distortion). I heard the same during the prerecorded Xmas shows as well. The live recordings don't have that problem.
