Haven't listened to today's show yet (will later this afternoon), but did someone say Kelly Jones is on?
Despite being Welsh, and a big Manics fan, I just can't stand Kelly jones.
I've tried, honestly.
Something about him makes me want to punch him! (too much? ), and the Stereophonics' music is very generic.
It's not a Manics vs Stereophonics thing (I haven't been 10 years old for a very long time), I could just never get into them.
Hope it's not a long interview.

I expect Vernon is just glad there's someone he knows well in the building, and when he gets in early, Chris is the one he would rather hang around with.
They're like kids at a new school, hanging around with the other new kids from their street.

I got a notification on my phone the other day that he'd changed the name of the page from 'Chrismoylesofficial' to 'Chris Moyles'. Wonder if he'd be able to get Facebook to give him facebook.com/chrismoyles (currently owned by someone else).

I wonder if another reason why the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X page on Facebook is so popular is because it's the only page that appears when you search for Radio X?



I've noticed this and thought it would be fixed by now, but still the Radio X page only appears when you search for 'XFM'. Something to do with the metadata for the page possibly.

Yeah...I don't love Vernon being present for so much of the show. I wonder if it's the influence of Radio 1 where Fearne and now Clara often go into Grimmy's show for the last 15-20mins rather than just doing a 'handover'.

I think there are two reasons for doing it that way - there is a news bulletin at 10 so they can't do the same style of handover Radio 1 did. Secondly, I think Radio X only has one on air studio, so Chris and Vernon have to do a hotseat changeover while Dom is reading the news from the same studio, so Vern is going to be hanging around the studio getting ready, and Chris' style isn't to ignore him.

Really loving the show - I think Vernon should work in theory because he's friends with Chris and he's a nice guy but he never seems particularly keen to really join in the personal chat that Chris is so good at so it always sounds quite awkward. Nowhere NEAR as awkward as Dave Masterman sounds though, I mean his awkwardness is making for fascinating listening but surely he will loosen up at some point?

True, but the Golden Hour was the only time where you'd get a decent number of songs an hour, actually made my Friday journeys into work even better!

I think celebrity interviews, with Dom or otherwise, may be a thing of the past, at least for the time being. With their FM availability they won't get the same audiences as they used to on Radio 1 and those types only go on to sell stuff.

I get the impression from listening, the fact the app is still falling over (despite them spending lots of money on increasing the server capacity on Monday) and the Facebook page that this may have been a much bigger success than they were expecting.

The problem they might have is the tagline of 'fresh rock' scaring people away but I'm finding myself actually preferring this to Radio 1's playlist - and talking to friends who listen they've all been pleasantly surprised.

RAJARs which cover this are due early February although it will take time for the show to bed in - it's also amazing how many people are saying on the Radio X Facebook page that they can't find it on their radio (expecting it to be FM) - so although not used, 'the saviour of digital radio' might actually be an accurate title if he can get those people to start listening on DAB - I'm not the only person I know who's gone and bought a DAB radio just to listen to Radio X.

Global will have a very good idea right now of how well the show is doing (based on the increase in streams) so it'll be interesting to see if we get any insight into figures before the RAJARs come out.

First of all, haven't even posted a message since the announcement although I was going to several times but didn't bother for some reason.

You were right to not open it since I only ever listened to it once and apart from the Shame parody with Gary Barlow, the album was pretty dire. I have one of those signed ones as well.

I have only listened to all of the edited Tuesday show this week but listened to majority of the Monday show and it is pretty strange listening to Chris again in the present as opposed to the archive, which I have been listening to for the past 3 years. The playlist is better but there are still artists I am not entirely fussed on but it is better than the stuff you hear on most other stations.
