I think we were hoping that the edited versions could just be on the Wiki so as to not attract too much attention to them (even though I'm sure they would be alright with edited versions). Is that the case Neil?

Also, there are two versions of the full show on the Wiki so maybe they should be removed, and replaced with my edited one?

I've lost track of all these threads, if people want to PM me the link to the edited one each day I don't mind adding it to the Wiki :)

Ian, can you provide me your direct MP3 link to the edited show and I'll replace it

I believe that this is the direct link to the edited version:

Cheer James :)

And yes, best to keep it under the radar. It'll only be big Moyles fans who want edited versions, and no doubt they will migrate here anyway.

And so it begins! Although not quite yet for me because I was halfway through an old show so I have to finish that first! But if I can wait 3 years then I can wait a couple more days.

Thanks, I'd forgotten just how much work can be involved in the editing! And I underestimated the show a bit too because I thought it would be loads of music and ads with not much content left over, which is definitely not the case :)

I've got the show downloaded from direct from my sky (not an official box so can drag recordings from the box straight to the computer) and its top quality. The file weighs in @ 194MB
I had a go at editing it too which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. No fancy fading in and out, just cut out all the music and ads.

Big thank you to everyone who put effort into recording, editing and posting today's show. It was great to listen back to and Chris certainly didn't disappoint.

For me, an RSS feed of edited shows going forward would be terrific. Being in Australia around 10 hours ahead, the plan is to wake up to the show the following morning. It's unlikely that any edited packages will be available before I go to bed and, with the file sizes being quite big, it takes a while to download once I've awoken - that's precious time I could be spending listening! Therefore, automated downloads by RSS would solve all my problems.

If it is possible to create an edited feed, just like the current TCMS archive feed, I would be extremely grateful.

That could be really useful going forward if the Stream Writer stream fails. Will you continue to do it do you think? And if so, do you think you'd be able to upload it to Dropbox for me when the Stream fails so that I could edit it?

I still know much about RSS feeds, so maybe someone else could advise on this?

Please share this. You can upload and PM me or someone else privately if you like.

Thanks!

Today, my automated wakeup of the spare laptop worked and the automated StreamWriter recording worked perfectly. Of COURSE Global's servers fell over from 6:30am to 6:32am. So far, it hasn't fallen over again.
I do have a backup recording set up now. Which may help. Dunno.

Yes, I'm happy to edit every day. I'm sure the process will get quicker the more I do it (my target is half an hour), and hopefully one day I can have a nice complete single mp3 file to work with if Radio X get their servers in order!

I'm recording the show every day too with Stream Writer, but I imagine that I will have the same dropouts that everyone does.

I'm usually home and ready to edit at about 4pm, so the earlier the better for whoever can get a high quality full version of the show to me.

The problem is that I have a Virgin box but there's no way to copy a recorded file to a computer as far as I can see. It would be much easier if it was just on Freeview in decent quality, so I could record it straight off there.

I was going to buy one -- we talked about it a while back. Then we found out it was 80kbps mono and figured the web stream would be better. :?

I've got a Sky Box (although they don't seem to care about radio on there, it seems like you have to do a manual recording), but I also have a DVD recorder. And my TV has headphone out etc.

So surely it must be possible to feed the live audio directly from the Sky Box or TV to my computer, and record it live?
