Great post from Nicola. I agree with virtually all of what you said. I do think his passion for radio was 100% real for a good deal of the show though. Growing up he was more of a radio geek than any of us, and listening to early Moyles shows I think that is clear. What is equally apparent is that he couldn't be arsed with it towards the end. I noticed it in 2011, but maybe it was even earlier than that, but so gradual I hadn't properly noticed.

I'll continue listening to the old shows for as long as Chris sounds like he is enjoying it and it isn't a chore to him to do. At November 2005 his enthusiasm isn't was it was in 2004, but he still wanted to do the job then and for as long as that continues I'll keep listening.

He's waiting for the right opening. And that's when the weeks turn into months, and then into years.

That's my guess anyway.

From what I can gather from listening to Moyles over the years, he's never been keen on revisiting past moments of his career. He wasn't happy during the Marathon Show when Dev was playing old clips of him, but that could be because they were so cringeworthy.

I'm sure he enjoyed his time on radio, but maybe he just wants to do other things before he retires. Or maybe he feels he can't do radio without his former friend Dave Vitty.

I agree about the PR stuff, Im sure he's been advised to say these things.

Radio is quite a niche market, I wouldn't that DJs have many fans, and ones that are genuine fans are looked upon with distain. Like Members of a certain forum!

He's trying to distance himself from the radio in the same way The Rock had to distance himself from Wrestling when he was trying to crack Hollywood.

Chris is just saying things that the decision makers want to hear.

I'm slightly annoyed with Chris to be honest, he's shown no interest in the fans of the show since he left. (apart from a couple of retweets about the old shows.) Or even the show itself for that matter. I think since he left the show he's gotten very big headed and thinks he's going to make it big doing something else, which he could do if he actually showed a sign that he was actually going to do something new apart from tweeting now and again on Twitter. Radio is where he belongs and it's what he's worked his entire life to do, after reading his book I thought that was clear. I'll listen to the old shows until I get bored and then that's it for me, I'll just remember the show for what it was at the time.

So... because I had a similar opinion that means I shouldn't have posted it? Also I don't think they are any copyright issues against sharing a similar opinion in a post as another member of the forum, so I'm sure I'll be alright :D

Lolz. To be fair it wasn't reproducing exactly what had already been said, just a similar sentiment.

I dunno about bigheaded exactly. I see where that perception would come from but there's no real evidence of that...he's maybe assuming people are still interested in him even when he's not doing anything, but let's face it, we are!

I'm very pleased with Chris to be honest, he's shown a lot of interest in the fans of the show since he left. (including a couple of retweets about the old shows.) And even the show itself for that matter. I think since he left the show he's gotten very modest and doesn't think he's going to make it big doing something else, which he couldn't do if he actually showed a sign that he was actually going to do something new apart from tweeting now and again on Twitter. Radio isn't where he belongs and it's what he worked his entire life to do, after reading his book I thought that was clear. I won't listen to the old shows because I get bored and that's it for me, I won't remember the show for what it was at the time.

I'd love to see you and Ben have a fight. It would be an incredible spectacle.
