I think he just grew up.

That probably had something to do with it, yes.

Sorry for the late reply - and from someone that nobody knows (been looking at this site again after getting nostalgic for the show)

If you look at how Radio 1 has changed over the past few years, you will see that the end of Moyles's show was part of a shift in bringing in younger/newer talent to more prominent slots in the station. This is being done gradually as an evolution, rather than the sudden revolution of Radio 1 in the early 90s which was brought about because the change hadn't been done gradually by shifting Radio 1 DJs over to Radio 2, thanks to the fact that Radio 2 was in an equal position of decline even earlier, by also being out of touch with its own younger audiences due to Frances Line's strict "geriatric" music policy that forced David Hamilton to leave in 1986, and wasn't rectified until James Moir modernised the station in the late 90s and early 00s with people like Steve Wright and Jonathan Ross.

Mills has been moved from the prominent drivetime slot to the early afternoon slot, Jo Whiley has moved to Radio 2 to be replaced by Fearne, Grimshaw has replaced Moyles on breakfast and Sara Cox has started doing cover work on Radio 2. This is a gradual shift to a new generation of Radio 1 DJs.

Not saying it doesn't suck, however.

That's a very long sentence. I kind of got lost halfway through it.

The bit about Radio 2 was originally in brackets but I decided to just expand the sentence into a paragraph, looks like I forgot to add some extra full stops though! Sorry.
