The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Seems like so much longer then a year since this moment.....

I remember the day well, feels much less than a year ago. I was truly gutted.

Yep. That's the most frustrating thing of all. Meanwhile, tix for the JC Superstar tour in October that was postponed from earlier this year are being offered at 50% off via Orange, so sales have obviously not picked up yet...

Bah. Seems longer than that. Radio 1 is 1000000% worse than it was a year ago. I'm pretty much a Radio 2/Capital FM (nice to hear Dom!)/Kiss FM convert. To me, Radio 1 is falling into a deepening puddle of water that's getting murkier. Music policy is up the spout too trying to lure in an audience turned off by radio and turn on to Spotify/Youtube.

Just hope Chris' return comes sooner rather than later. Chris Evans to do something utterly stupid in the next year would make me happy.

Bloody hell can't believe it's been a year, damn you Radio 1, you really dropped the ball by getting rid of Moyles, Hawkins on 6 Music is good but he's no Moyles :(

He's sat at home, waiting for a national broadcaster to pop off/get sacked, whilst disappearing off the radar into oblivion himself. He's no longer relevant or important now. I'm sure he's broadcasting skills are a little rusty now. Sat at home, single, getting old & no job, poor 'moylesy' as we fondly remembered him as.

Harsh but true. The papers seemingly can't even be bothered to report on the fact that he's banging Mel C.

Because it's not necessarily a fact? Not that that usually stops them, but it does need pointing out.

Oh yeah definitely but I just feel like it is a bit weird that the papers don't seem to have written too much about it.

Might have something to do with the fact that she has been in Australia for the last few months. Hard to speculate on a relationship in those circumstances. I kind of hope it IS true. I have no idea why though.

It's weird going back and listening to all the old shows on replay. I just finished 2004, and it always sounds weird to hear Chris talk about Sophie and what they were doing together. It makes me a little sad whenever she comes up because I know eventually the relationship was going to collapse years later. They seemed to really belong to each other just based upon what I heard on the show. In contrast, listening to Dave talk about his 1st wife, it was clear (in hindsight) that THAT marriage was doomed to failure.

Way to spoil it for those of us listening from the start...

What makes you say that?

I'm pretty sure a lot/everything that they said about their partners was for comedy affect.

As I listened to the first year of the show, it seemed that almost every time Dave talked about being married, he was complaining about it - about what a pain in the neck in was to have to deal with being married. It was pretty rare that he spoke about being married in a positive light. One can argue that that could have been simply for comic affect. And that's certainly possible, but we have the benefit of hindsight on this one. Even on the last live show of that year (Christmas Eve day), Dave was saying how he wasn't going to see his wife and exchange gifts until Dec. 29. And he was completely blasé about it. Towards the end of that show, Chris had a nice heartfelt Christmas message for Sophie. Dave basically said "see you on the 29th" and that was it. It just seemed apparent to me, that Dave really wasn't into his 1st marriage based upon all that he said during the course of 2004. He even tweeted sometime after the show ended last year something to the effect that after 2 failed marriages, it was clear to him that he wasn't cut out for marriage.

To be clear I'm not judging him on this. Marriage works for many people, but it doesn't work for all. I think Dave falls into that latter category.

I agree to a point. And some of Dave's comments were for comic affect. But I also think there was an underlying ring of truth to everything that he said regardless of how it was being used in the context of the show.

I guess the only people who know for sure are Dave and his ex wife. One thing for sure is that Dave is a hell of a lot more entertaining in 2004/2005 than he ever was in the last few years of the show.

Dave never liked to spill anything personal on the show. That, combined with his legendary grumpiness, blatant misogyny and general disdain for anything "romantic" might lead one to make assumptions about his marriages, but because he never really talked about his laydeez, I don't think we can draw any conclusions from the lack of exposition.

The later "I am the meat, monkey man, pig feet" phone call from Jayne was really sweet and gave some insight to their affections.

That's definitely true. I just couldn't help thinking along those lines though as I listened to the old shows together with how things eventually panned out.

Sat and today are up
