Of course bosses expected this. There was only one way for figures to go. It was 'how much' not 'if'.
But the Trust are happy at the increase in younger listeners at least, so job done Ben

Id be very concerned if the R1 bods didn't expect this. It was completely clear way before Chris left that Grimshaw had far less to offer than Moyles in the DJ stakes. The only noticeable thing he had to offer was doing less, ergo, more music. I don't know if that's an attractive option to yoof in these mega memory MP3 days where one is ones own DJ with their own choice of catalogue . Might have been like that many moons in the vinyl o r even CD years but not in the modern day. Cant quite remember when the MP3 culture kicked off big time but I think Chris was in the breakfast seat when it was going on. So times have changed. A DJ thats not that entertaining is going to find it tough.
I hazard a guess Chris will return to DJing somewhere but not R1. Chris had to leave the breakfast show sometime, might as well had been 2012. And if you were Chris would you really want to work for them again?
As one of the oldies that deserted R1, (aside for Scott Mills podcasts) it has been so weird for the R1 Big Weekend to have just arrived without hearing the build up for weeks. Odd BBC TV advert here and there so I knew it was coming but all these years of those suspense win tickets competitions and announcements of whose playing. Just gone.
Not chuffed about losing my way with whats in the chart at the moment either.
