Ok. News nick grimshaw has lost 250k listners in the 15-25 year old demographic alone. With 1.1 million listners (going year on year)

If it comes to it. Would Ben Cooper bite the bullet and bring chris back.

The figures have shown that clearly chris had a bigger demographic than people gave him credit for.

Radio 1 have taken a massive risk. And this clearly is not working.

If chris would to come back. He won't have Dom or Dave. He can do it solo per say with aled. (who has stated he would want to work with him again.)
How would you approach it if you were chris?

I doubt Ben would want to look like he had made a mistake if he brought Chris back. And without the rest of the team, it wouldn't be the same. And I don't think Chris would want to go back; he's doing other things now. Whatever they may be.

I wonder how Scott's listening figures are doing. I only really listen to him on Radio 1 now and I think he's great. He really would be a good choice for Breakfast.

Chris wouldn't come back. And Radio One wouldn't have gone through the massive backlash they got from him leaving to bring him back again in 1-2 years time.

No he wouldn't: he's a similar age to Moyles and whilst his audience is likely considerably younger, he's still part of the old guard. And he's not very good.

They will never bring Chris back to Radio 1. Simple answer.

EDIT:

They might bring him back for a one-off show with the then breakfast show host for the 50th like he and Tony Blackburn did for the 40th but that would be it.

No. That would not happen, I doubt Chris will go back and I doubt Ben will even consider the matter.

LIstening again to the 2007 Christmas special podcasts! He should come back to Radio, there is no one better than Chris Moyles!

It would be stupid to bring Chris back now. Chris has left and gone and we have to get over it. They also won't want to ditch Grimmy after only half a year because that makes everybody look bad. The BBC look bad for making a mistake, Grimmy looks bad because they got rid of him so quick, and the audience looks bad for not giving Grimmy a chance.

After another year and a bit, he will probably be replaced but the BBC are probably going to make sure he has a good crack at the show first.

They'll probably wait until the next set of figures come out. If he has lost yet more listeners they might go one of two ways.

Direction 1 would be to drop him for other D.J.s' until they eventually find one that brings in listeners again (Which would be like the late nineties all over again).

Direction 2 would be to keep him in the slot and make up reasons like he has nailed the target market or that with all the different ways you can now listen the figures would always drop.

I still cannot figure out how they have not (As an industry) figured out a more accurate way of getting the listener figures. With digital now in abundance surely this time is comming.

Would Chris want to come back?

I doubt it, as stated, maybe for a one off.

As much as it pains me to admit, I really think there's absolutely no chance of Chris coming back to any regular slot on Radio 1, and probably not on any BBC station. It wouldn't make sense to replace him with Scott, who's as old as Chris, and if they foresee Greg in that slot, why wouldn't they have replaced Chris with him? I feel like he's as ready as he's ever gonna be.

Grimmy shed the oldies. Might that have been the point all along and then move onto a better DJ?

Like shaving the cheese with lots of mould.

Big boss Ben was on Radio 4 yesterday talking about the RAJARs and was asked about Moyles coming back. He said he has 'conversations' with Chris about any ideas for him to come back and he's always open to 'great ideas for radio' but he thinks Chris is writing and enjoying his time off the airwaves.

Seems like the diplomatic thing to say but confirms as we all think it's pretty certain he's not going to come back to R1.

EDIT: Obviously for 1 show only.

Perhaps he's doing what he did when he got fired from The Pulse, get up early to write material and of course ring up Nick Abbot :D

Or maybe it's just better to say that than "no way he's never getting back on air whilst I'm in charge I offered him late nights and he threw it back it my face*."

*allegedly/may not have happened like that etc.

How on earth do you know what he is or isn't writing?

Misfit wrote:why did chris get sacked from the pulse?

It's in the first book from memory it was to do with the ex-boss of The Pulse who complained that Chris during a New Year's Eve show told listeners how he'd got the job and how previously he'd applied and got no response and the old boss was therefore a 'miserable old sod'.

Although it was seemingly more because they wanted an excuse to get rid of him as he was 19 doing things differently and making everyone else on the station/network look bad.

Wah, going back through the podcast catalogue since Chris left, I yesterday reached the 'we're leaving ' podcast. Oh bugger.

Id be very concerned if the R1 bods didn't expect this. It was completely clear way before Chris left that Grimshaw had far less to offer than Moyles in the DJ stakes. The only noticeable thing he had to offer was doing less, ergo, more music. I don't know if that's an attractive option to yoof in these mega memory MP3 days where one is ones own DJ with their own choice of catalogue . Might have been like that many moons in the vinyl o r even CD years but not in the modern day. Cant quite remember when the MP3 culture kicked off big time but I think Chris was in the breakfast seat when it was going on. So times have changed. A DJ thats not that entertaining is going to find it tough.

I hazard a guess Chris will return to DJing somewhere but not R1. Chris had to leave the breakfast show sometime, might as well had been 2012. And if you were Chris would you really want to work for them again?

As one of the oldies that deserted R1, (aside for Scott Mills podcasts) it has been so weird for the R1 Big Weekend to have just arrived without hearing the build up for weeks. Odd BBC TV advert here and there so I knew it was coming but all these years of those suspense win tickets competitions and announcements of whose playing. Just gone.

Not chuffed about losing my way with whats in the chart at the moment either.

Seriously?! Chris is NEVER going back to r1 & Ben would NEVER ask him. Stop dreaming.
The reality is, Chris is not going to be back on radio anytime soon. The right station and show would have to come up (after he wakes up from thinking he's good at anything apart from radio).
At this rate of radio obscurity, it's not good for him or fans.

Sat and today are up
