The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I'm gonna leave it to Chris to deal with, but Deadly has already created a new account under a different name and posted protesting his ban. It just isn't visible as all new posters need moderator approval for their first few posts.

ETA: it is now visible obviously.

What are the figures for active accounts actually viewing the forum regularly? There's only about probably 10 regular posters on here. Do many more read through it?

I'm on here nearly everyday but I don't post all that often.

And a comment to do with this thread:

She sounds drunk so why could the replacement DJ not think of anything original to say other than "She's ill"? Something along the lines of "She has gone home early due to overwhelming emotions." It's just as beleivable.

I was insulted first. I was retaliating.

Look back at your last 20 posts (I did). If you're not talking about football, you're arguing, continuing an argument or being offensive.

In fairness as I didn't specifically give you a warning, I've changed the ban from permanent to 7 days - which you can now take as the warning. And please don't continue to post from a duplicate account in that time.

Bloody hell, another thread gone to crap because of Deadly, not surprising really.

Captain Honesty wrote:I'd just like to point out my banning is completely unjustified. I have not received any official warnings and have not broken any rules (well no more than anybody else). While I accept my style is provocative I feel I should have been given the courtesy of a warning before being banned. If you ban this account then that's up to you but why not then ban the few people that have sworn at me for offering a different opinion to them? Being argumentative isn't against the rules and I am very rarely personally offensive or swear at people.

Here's what everyone thinks of you. You're welcome.

Personally I browse the forum once every two or three days. I just rarely post because I have nothing to say :P

Thing is though that drunk presenter was actually quite funny and entertaining. Perhaps all dull radio presenters should get drunk on air. Make it all a bit more lively!

I hardly ever post anything but I am still on here almost everyday. That other DJ that took over the rest of her show should have been honest and said that she left because she was drunk instead of lying and saying it was because she was not feeling well. If she had the chance to she would have done the rest of her show because she was actually well enough to do it but just done drunk though. She doesn't work for that radio station anymore so they had nothing to lose by telling people that she was drunk on air.

If new account posts need moderator approval, surely that means that they can be moderator un-approved? So why did Deadly's duplicate account posts end up being visible?

Chris must have approved his posts. The first 5 need approval.

Seems rather to defeat the object of him being banned.

I'm not a fan of banning as a rule but Deadly was getting too tedious even for me, the constant trolling was becoming so dull and repetitive. I'm sorry Chris has reduced it to 7 days, he's the boss and he doesn't have to justify or explain his decisions so the idea that he should have given a warning is arguable.

Yep, Chris approved them. I saw them, but didn't approve them as I didn't wanna get involved :)

Sounds like he approved them because he thought Deadly had a point. I sort of agree with Yudster, but though I do think Deadly crosses the line quite a bit, I agree with him being given a warning rather than an outright ban. That said:

Deadly made very sure that he didn't break the forum rules as they were written, meaning that if his posts were straying towards someone suggesting he should get a warning (by breaking the spirit of the rules) then he would selectively interpret the rules and say that he didn't deserve any sort of punishment whatsoever. It would also be accompanied by aggressiveness towards Nic (the more active of the 2 moderators in terms of posting), meaning that Nic was probably unable to issue him a warning as it would inevitably look like she was doing it for personal reasons.

Perhaps there should be a revision of the rules. But really, who the hell cares. It's tedious when people quote the rules.

I agree with Ben that it's interesting and deserves it's own thread, but it's really embarrassing. Who on earth was the producer who let this go on for 30 minutes?

It wasn't even good radio - this is a massive blunder from someone, and kind of unfair to her to let her make a fool of herself.

I approved them in the spirit of free speech, I didn't want to deny him his opportunity to make a comment.

It's probably fairly obvious, but on his return - if he chooses to come back - the bar is significantly lowered and very permanent regarding any future action. If he wants to integrate socially into the wider group in a way that's acceptable to everyone, then I'm happy for him to do so and put the past in the past.
