Dallas was - first time around - epically brilliant TV. JR was a huge character, and Larry Hagman loved him and loved being him. It was so refreshing to see a mega-famous telly actor who loved the character, who loved the fame, the notoriety, the perks. Larry Hagman was unapologetically revelling in his fame and I liked that. I liked him. Oh no.

He's not the only one - what, exactly, is wrong with posting about a death in the thread that was set up specifically for that purpose? Fair enough it's a relatively obscure person, but there are no rules on the prominence of the stiff... I don't know why he's getting chastised this time. Apart, perhaps, from posting under another guise when his other account is moderator-approved posts only.

I am mystified as to how posting about the death of a former R1 presenter in this particular thread could possibly offend anyone.

Having given it some thought (work is quiet today), I think what irks people about CJ's posts in this thread is that he comes off like some sort of wannabe amateur reporter. He isn't posting about the deaths of these people cos he feels saddened or affected by them (or if he does, he's hiding it extremely well), and he doesn't really post personal memories or thoughts about the deceased people, he just rattles off facts and links as if he's pleased to be first to the punch in imparting the news. It's not against the rules in any way, it just seems a bit out of keeping with the thread.

Yeah it's a weird one this. Hopefully the tape will be released of the initial phone call that was made by the Australian radio station. She could have had a history of depression for all we know which is why I'm reserving judgement at the moment.

Fair dos. But if it was them, they should be reminded of what they did every minute of every day for the rest of their lives. Maybe the royal family is fair game, but this was just someone trying to get on with their job - she wasn't a legitimate target for anything.

Prank phone calls have been happening for decades and this to my knowledge hasn't happened before. The people who did the pranking had no idea that this would be the end result and until a full transcript is released of exactly what was said then I'm backing them up on this one. If it turns out the radio show said anything completely out of order or made threats then they shouldnt have to take the blame for her death. There was no intention on their part for this to happen. They did something that has been done on hundreds of occasions and unfortunately they may have stumbled across the someone who has either depression or another illness. It can't be considered normal behaviour for someone to kill themselves over a prank.

I completely agree with Deadly. I actually feel sorry for these 2 people doing the prank now that this is on their conscience.
