I woke up with a weird heat-rash type thing on my cheek yesterday morning. It was from resting my face on Mr Red's all night and his stubble scratching me. Bad times.

(Saying Mr Red makes him sound like a character from Reservoir Dogs. Not sure what else to refer to him as, though.)

Should I just use his name? I mean it's not like his first name is a secret. I got told 'bf' was text-speak, do we think it is?

Oh, of course. That didn't really occur to me :) Even if I were to call the bf Mr Harper Lee, that's not my dad's name.

I'm having an annoying debate which can be settled here with the use of public opinion. I say Gangnam Style would not have gained any popularity without a quirky video and dance moves. My gym buddy says the song alone would have been a worldwide smash regardless of the video.

I'm right aren't I?

No you are wrong... based purely on the fact that it's dross and that is what it takes to get popular these days. Though the dance thingy clearly helped.

Yes you are. And even then it souldn't have gained the popularity it did - most people can dance like a retard, its nothing special.

Toph, now you're married, have you not considered changing your Sig...?

Jus' a thought, as now it kinda implies (to those that know) married life isn't as 'satisfying' as it could be...

I cannot see how a song that is sung in Korean could make it out of Korea without the help of the quirky video and dance moves. All the foreign songs that make it big in America/UK have dance moves usually.

WHY. FFS.

100% right.

No other K-Pop record has made it to the mainstream, and the video was designed to be funny (which I think it is, even though I know others disagree!). Plus he had the guy who manages Justin Bieber promote his single worldwide...that kind of helps!

I think it's a good example of audience manipulation, and working a niche within a saturated market. The song itself doesn't really matter, there's a formulaic template that pop songs need to be catchy - what gets them more airplay is the associations with the artist (in this case, the silly dancing and video). In interviews, Psy comes across as a very nice guy who knows his worldwide success won't last long - but he's been a huge star in Korea for the last 10 years so I don't think he'll mind too much, as he seems quite level headed.

Ha maybe, but it makes me laugh... it was true at the time you know.

The first two were heavily featured in films - and the third's gimmick was it's overt sexuality. All non-organic* hits to be fair :P

*That is to say they weren't popular based on their artistic merit alone. I think I'm arguing a point that noone is making. Sigh.

I said they usually have dance moves, not all. The majority, certainly in the last 20 years have dance routines or some kind of gimmick. Even Je'taime is gimmicky due to its sexual nature. At the time of release it would have generated buzz and interest by being controversial. It's an awful song.

It's a natural loving thing for two people to get close. Skin on skin, juices mixing together, the sweat dripping off one another's bodies. The sensation of pure sexual pleasure as things come to a dramatic conclusion and finally the overwhelming sense of satisfaction as you stick together on the sodden sheets.....

Then the shock and confusion that follows when the couple involved in this act wonder how the * deadly got into their bed and stuck between them on their sheets.

I feel uncomfortable watching Children in Need. All the recent bad press that the BBC has received recently would make a lot of people think twice about donating which is really bad for the kids who benefit from the money.

All that 'Exposure' thingy needed was a byline with a number asking for money for CIN.

But CIN will survive once the dust settles. They've got Wogan, Pudsey, and best of all a BBC exec who had the great sense to ban Savile and his like from the telethon all these years.

Hope is not lost and money will keep pouring in - that's the best vote of confidence, depite recent events.

The Macarena is another example. Still played at some discos along with the Cha Cha Slide.
