I was just trying to find the link to the thread about the Chris Moyles Karaoke tour - and I found this from 2005:

Walter Sobchak wrote:I had an Idea ages ago, (about the time Comedy Dave was talking about his Tour) then it kinda passed.....
until I heard Jo Whiley talking about her Live Lounge at home thingy.

Why don't Chris & Co do a series of tours in theatres, based around Chris' chat, his team members, and bad karaoke, maybe with a guest group or singer.

well, it's an idea!

Prophetic!

Anyway, I quite enjoyed the show - having gone for a few drinks, whenever songs were on I sung along like it was a gig - good fun. I think there are 6-7 live songs in all. Rockaoke are a great band, and

Chris had a long section that was akin to Ricky Gervais' stand up, basically talking about himself and the public's relationship with him and addressing it in a 'look at what idiots they are' way, interspersed with his usual audience bantering when he's live (are you single? no? unbelievable etc.)

There's a funny pre recorded video with Chris, Aled & Dom - while Aled and Dom each have a small section to 'do their thing'.

Aside from 1/2 references to the show, it didn't feel as though it was anything to do with the radio show (which might have been the point) - actually it felt like the radio show was still going on and that this was just a 'show night out' with an audience. I guess that's the only real disappointment from the show itself, there's no real closure to the radio show, which makes me hopeful that he'll be back on a regular basis sometime soon.

I LOVE singing along in a crowd, so the night was a big plus for me - I can see how that would put some people off though.

I'd give the night a 7/10 overall. Definitely worth seeing if you're a fan of Moyles, don't have to travel too far and don't focus on how much you've paid for the tickets!

I chose to avoid revealing specific details, but I just think starting a post with the words "Contains spoilers" should be enough. If people don't want to know what is happening on the tour then a thread called Chris Moyles Tour is probably one best avoided.

I think you're right, but this was an issue in the JCS thread too. I remember when I used to post on a Lost forum you could actually end up with a temporary ban for posting spoilers without using tage :)

Hopefully should be okay now, cause my eyes arnt good enough to see it!! removed my 2nd comment also to keep me safe from the courts and added allegedly! :)

The issues about spoilers is valid, but as we don't have those tags that Digital Spy have(had?) I think people who want to avoid them will have to use their own common sense.

Just to put your mind at rest, nobody will be suing you (or anyone) for repeating and discussing an article that's widely published and disseminated.

Above and beyond that, for any of the players to attempt to sue someone on a forum which has been set up primarily to discuss them and their activities would be the most monumental PR blunder.

Just don't allege that anyone is a paedophile, okay?

I've edited the thread title to include 'contains spoliers'. Anyone who reads it and complains that they've read something they wished they hadn't deserves ridicule.

It's a glorified karaoke show, not the latest movie blockbuster. I don't think it needs the level of secrecy that people are trying to generate.

I'm thinking about asking for my ticket money back for misrepresentation :D

Since I've been accused more than once this week about my 'liable infringements' (but ignored said accusee), I felt this was worth quoting, jus' to lessen the chance of it being missed.

SeeTickets wrote:'Chris Moyles Live' will be an 80-minute touring music and comedy show incorporating audience participation.

Accompanied by a live band Chris and his friends will perform songs, interspersed amongst the music there will of course be non-stop banter, fun and games. Audience participation will of course be encouraged, creating the perfect party atmosphere with an interactive element.

Pretty much does what it says on the tin.

Also, the opinions on the actual show seem to have been washed away in all this wank.

Partial spoiler alert!!!

People are going to see the tour mainly because of Chris' radio career. People love the show and let's face it, without the Radio show there would be no parody albums and there would be no TV works. The general public love and miss the show.
So why are none of the loved elements on the live tour shows? Why are none of the features we all know and love played with members of the public? Chris has two parody albums so why didn't he sing songs from either of them? The crowd love Dominick The Donkey, wanted to sing it, started to sing it and then stop after the first two words.

The format of the show should have been as much of a replica of the radio show as possible. Open up with a 20 minute ramble, Dom can do fake news and weather and when Chris goes to a song he could play one of his own with the live band. The unscripted chat element and ad-lib is the great thing about the show and we all loved the fact that on a daily basis the team made us laugh by doing that so why make the tour the complete opposite? People miss the radio show and want to hear their favourite songs/features/sound effects etc from the show. I hate to criticise the show because I have loved pretty much anything Chris and the team have done but I didn't love this. It could just be me expecting too much. I think after the high of being at the excellent goodbye show made me think it would be a similar kind of feeling but I just felt a bit flat throughout the show.

Certain parts were great and were really funny. One lad got up to do Karaoke who was stood next to me in the crowd. We both put our hands up to do it but he got chosen and rightfully so. I can carry a tune and this guy really couldn't and that made for a great segment of the show. He was the worst singer I've ever heard but the crowd loved it and he was a nice fella so I'm happy for him. Dom was really good throughout the show and told me I looked like David Baddiel which I thought was very harsh but probably fair.

The only level of secrecy it needed was to prefix peoples comments with the word 'spoiler', which is what you have kindly done. It's up to the individual how important it is to go to the show knowing as little as possible.

Libel, not liable. Two very different words and concepts that could easily confuse the issue since they're both law-related.

I based my statement (that speaking as if rumours are true puts people at risk of being sued) on my journalism training (which I've never used outside of an unpaid internship!) Chris is of course free to disagree with me and I suspect I'm over-cautious because I had it drummed into me to always, always use statements like IF and ALLEGEDLY. It's not a moderation issue at all, and people are completely free to speak as if the allegations are confirmed, if they so wish.

I agree that there wasn't any closure from the radio show during this tour show - I think we already had it when the radio show ended. I think the closure was the farewell show and the final show itself with the ending song.

Despite the fact that I love singing karaoke, I would NOT want to do it under Chris Moyles' scrutiny.

One of the people who did it in Birmingham was a girl of about 18 who was a nervous wreck. Why she volunteered to do it I have no idea. I think she was probably asking herself the same question when she walked out on stage and saw 3000 people in front of her.

I think Chris actually wrapped her song up early.

One thing that came across is that Chris isn't a natural live entertainer, and that he's never done anything akin to a regular 'set' in the way the show would demand. He gave a similar vibe off to Rob Brydon or Ricky Gervais (when they're doing their stand up).

I wouldn't be surprised if Chris added more material to his set as the tour went on and he grows in confidence - taking away a few of the songs.

I disagree. Two different concepts with entirely different implications, but damn similar words! :D
