He's the only DJ who could get me listening to Radio 2, that's assuming he joins them.

Does anyone drag themselves away from 8 year old podcasts to check radio 2? It plays old music which is > than the torturous new music you were subjected to on cms & radio 1 in general. 6 music is good too.

Anyway, chris was on Steve wright yesterday & Steve asked if he'd join r2 & chris said he'd go anywhere.

I think most people would find something to enjoy on Radio 2, although I don't imagine all the music will be to everyone's taste all the time. They are a lot more interesting inbetween the records though, which is why I like them (with the notable exceptions of Ken Bruce and Terry Wogan who still rears his head from time to time). I know that's why Moyles always worked for me and I think he would have a good time on R2.

moyles going to R2 is the only thing that'd drag me there, at the moment anyway. I'm still to young n hip ( :? )to listen to R2 music output.

But I just said, the music is incidental. And like everyone else, if you want to listen to music that you know you are going to like, surely you wouldn't go to the radio for that these days?

one of the Pro's, for me, about daily Moyles show was i kept up to date with new music, which always kept me 'on the money' with the kids (kids as in the fruits of my own loin, not 'kids' in the urban sense). Be it Skrillex and Knife Party or Wand Erection, I liked having my finger on the pulse of new choons - but since the rise of the Grime, i'm losing touch.

As much as Chris keeps on about being out of work etc; I think nothing will be decided until the new year. He has the tour to do, and looking at his company's reported situation he obviously has a bob or two to see him through Christmas.

The announcement that the Beeb are looking at reducing the free-lance contractors in the organisation may also have something to do with his future.

Who knows ??

There is one thing about it which interests me, strangely enough - the Popmaster quiz. I love going on radio music quizzes, but with nothing on R1 at the moment, the nearest thing would probably be that... Now my dislike of R2 bites me on the ass!
But I digress.

I think Moyles could be just the right person to help transform Radio 2's image too. Maybe he could start with a weekend slot or something, and then move on to doing the Breakfast slot.

And I agree that we'll probably not hear anything regarding his next career move till after New Year. I don't think he sees acting and his other current stuff as anything more than a nice break from what he had been doing. I feel he'll make a career choice which is right for him, when the time is right.

If Radio 2 could have shows for Russell Brand and Jonathan Russell Brand, the management should be open to Chris Moyles. He is funny but they don't need to worry about him calling an old celebrity and leaving a message that someone screwed their granddaughter - maybe saying their daughter, but not their granddaughter. Someone who has the power to give Chris a radio show where he is given room to be himself, have outrageous fun and no music quotas, needs to sign him up to do a show starting in January

A weekend show perhaps but I think breakfast is a very long way off even if Evans gets bored/quits in a fit of pique I think he's too divisive to get the slot for a long time. The obvious show (in the medium term) is Steve Wright's slot when he finally leaves having basically done the same show for decades! Saying that R2 don't want to have the BBC Trust moaning at them for going 'too young' I think the they said a couple of years ago the average age shouldn't drop below 50.

If there's no radio from Chris in the short term I'm not sure I'll really follow his career anymore. I bought the album (mainly to get the signed copy) but that's about it for his non-radio endeavours. I've never 'got' his TV shows and appearing on other shows like Celebrity Juice/JCS do nothing for me.

Interestingly, both Vernon Kaye and Reggie Yates have both announced they are not renewing their contracts ar R1, and leave at end December; Chris in the Saturday morning slot?

Edited to add; they have already given it to Matt Edmonson

Chris has always been open about hating working on a Saturday.

Irrelevant now as they have announced the new presenters. Even more it now looks as if there are no slots available left at R1; and what is interesting is, reading between the lines, I would say that Sarah Cox's last gig will be to cover Fearn Cotton; as her weekend slot has been given to Matt Edmonson also.

That pretty much completes Mr Cooper's work I would think !!

I have no recollection of that programme what so ever.
So went and googled some images to see if a flashback happened or something.
Nope. Bugger all.

The 10pm Monday-Thursday slot is still vacant. They have only used stand-ins since Grimshaw left it.

My money is on that being the show R1 want Moyles to do.

I used to watch Smart Guy and also Sister Sister before they went to college and it became crap! Most shows tend to go downhill as soon as they leave high school with Saved by the Bell, Sabrina & Sister Sister being 3 good examples. Speaking of Sister Sister, saw the other day that Tia and Tamera have a reality show! When you have to resort to doing a reality show, you know your career has hit rock bottom!

Me neither. I fear we may be too old, Badger.
