Ah the Crystal Maze. Same games every week, same contestants with mullets and an awesome host who played a harmonica whilst others tried to work out a basic maths puzzle. Awesome show.

Challenge tv show them occasionally. The only 1 I remember I had taped was when they were in chipping norton & 1 of them had to get to the top of a building used for fireman training

Richard O'Brien would have made an excellent Doctor for Doctor Who in my opinion

Sylvia Kristel, star of retro erotic classic Emmanuelle, has died aged 60. RIP.

Ohno - that's no age at all! I didn't like the Emanuelle films mainly because Sylvia Kristel was so completely opposite in appearance to the description of Emanuelle in the books, but there's no doubt the films were iconic of their era. Oh no.

Was just going to post about this, BBC News web link : http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20032882

I know it was old technology but there was something so charming about seeing those graphics still in 2012, TBH I still prefer Ceefax to BBC Red Button, Ceefax just seemed to work better.

I like reference to Oracle in there too, those old names just sounded better too.

RIP Ceefax :(

A sad day indeed. The first "New Media" gone forever. Close to my heart having worked for TELETEXT handled numerouse question about why half of Mr bamboozles face was mssing, worked for both the Austalian Caption Centre and the BBC/REDBEE media in the IT end of captioning. Worked for SKY Text. Went to the end of TELTEXT party last year and now Ceefax gone, the VBI will be a dessolate place from now on maybe Packet 8/30 might have some PDC data for the VHS luddites.
There are Ex oracle staff still working for SKY text though.....yay.

no more BBC model B mode 7, no more Elite,no more Hlilte, no more Winsprite and Plasma no more BLISS no more SOFTEL SE3000b bye bye D1setup.exe and Newfor.exe

end of an era no longer can i say New Media? NEW MEDIA! i've been working in new media since 1993 because the oldest of the newmedia is gone.

Mr Bamber Boozle and his familiy are destitute, their cafe in a lay-by removed without notice by the council one night.

This is sad. Ceefax has always been there in the background since way before I was born, and I used to end up watching it sometimes after I'd got in from a night out while I was waiting for something I wanted to watch to come on(usually a Grand Prix from somewhere like Japan or Australia). Plus it reminded me of BBC computers.

Oh no. :(

All depends on your perspective. Coronation Street has been a fixture in my parents' house for my entire life - I grew up seeing faces like Bill Tarmey on the TV screen two/three times a week. Just because he wasn't a Hollywood movie star or something, doesn't mean his death isn't pretty big news to a lot of people.

Not sure you can say to someone it's not a huge death. It's up to the person affected by it. If you're a Corrie fan then it is pretty huge as Bill Tarmey played a huge character in the show and is a big part of its history.
