You should try sucking them, much more enjoyable...

Wahay!!

I don't even know what it means...

As mentioned, they're a cold/sore throat/sinus type lozenge, popular when your nan would have given you clove oil for a tooth ache and poured warm caster oil in your ear for an ear ache.

However that's secondary to their use as a prop in gaggery.

The correct response to when someone tells you they've got a sore throat, should always be:

"Have you tried sucking a fisherman's friend" (while winking, natch).

If anyone else is familiar with Hawksbee & Jacobs on Talksport then they'll know that that was a definite 'Marie Gosney'.

"What a waste of ink."

I thought it was Marie Gosling....

Might have to check a newspaper and find out...

I gave it another go, for another five minutes and I've just realised another one of the reasons Grimshaw's weird voice annoys me - the affected and presumably for effect dropping 't's.

"Littellmix are on in twe'iy minni'is."

Edit: the dropping of some 't's and enunciation of others.

His voice has changed, or rather his diction has, you're right Wykey. Its not just the dropping of ts, its the affected, clearly deliberate little lisp he throws in every now and then, and the also clearly deliberate attempt to sound a little bit camp.

He's beginning to annoy me now.

I hadn't listened to him for longer than he'd been on as a guest of Chris, so hadn't really noticed - I always assumed the fake campness was him pretending to flirt with Chris and Aled.

I thought I'd noticed it a lot more when I listened to an hour on iPlayer during lunchtime just to see if anything's changed. Not that anyone should judge him because he swings the other way but he shouldnt just the lisp on as radio catches you out on that. Nope! Not a sodding thing. From the off every morning, he seems to run out of steam on what he wants to chat about. And it's always seems to be about the same thing (same morning routine, one direction, prodding Matt Fincham for doing something wrong).

As the show goes on, there's nothing spontaneous or exciting that happens. The show seems to be very much pinned on the features (wake up song is very poor! - it's a load of shoutouts) and whatever guest is coming in. They've seemed to get someone in everyday but surely that won't happen all the time?

Can see the show going down hill once Grimshaw loses enthusiasm for it and the guests dry up.

I actually gave the 6Music breakfast show a go. Shaun is ace! Very dry and witty. Also, I seem to have gained a little interest in the music they play also. Looking at the last weeks worth of playlists makes it seem my Radio 1.5 experience that I need.

The dropping of Ts is his accent! I speak to people from Oldham almost every day, that's how they talk. The campness is a different thing, though...

No, his diction has changed - there is definitely something, I noticed it too. Maybe it's just his early morning voice... Or maybe it's the fact that I can't stand him? I haven't listened for more than 20 mins each day to be honest. The show is dyer and I see no reason to give it a chance. Far too much music and it is also making me dislike Fincham and Tina with a vengeance too.

Gotta say, I do feel the production is very poor indeed - and I don't get the show 'theme'...?

You won't get the theme because it's for 12 year old girls who love JB and 1D (can't bare to waste my keyboards life on them names).

I don't see what Tina's done wrong. On reverse, she actually brings a little bit of normality to the show when Grimmy talks to her after the 7am or 7:30am bulletin. Unfortunately she's gagged by the constraints of the shows format to contribute more.

She contributes on air a little bit after/before her bulletins. Yesterday they were talking about doing the Tina Awards.

i tried it again and got to I think 10 mins and had to switch it off.

Speaking as an ardent Moyles fan (which should be obvious due to the clipping, Tedious Links, tribute book etc), and someone who's cried more than once about the show ending, I am shocked by the level of hate for Nick Grimshaw here. I respect everyone's opinions, but it has really taken me aback how strongly anti-Grimmy everyone seems to be.

Alright, no need to take the piss :)

I don't hate Nick Grimshaw I just hate what Radio 1 has become. The hatred toward Nick should be directed towards the BBC who are essentially dictating what the show has to be like. Nick is just doing what he is told and getting paid well for it. Most of us would do the same thing.

I don't hate... I am neither ignorant or fearful of him... He is just piss poor... When I mentioned Tina it was not that I had grew to dislike her, more the fact that her involvement with this piss poor production is waning any respect I had for her (as it is for Fincham). The show is just a run of the mill average Radio 1 weekend show at best. It is now non-descript and could be part of any radio station.

Grimmy is poor as are his production team and the Radio 1 bosses.

The simple way I'd put the difference between the CM and NG morning shows:

CM used to be function over style. I basically mean the the show elements (jingles, features, critically planned segues/chats) made the basis of the shows format and structure. The extra chat added flavour and of course created a connection to the audience. It was packaged very well by a broadcaster who knew his trade.

NG is presenting a style over function show. Everything done isn't necessarily done well and can probably be explained by the BBC "just to appeal to an audience". Doesn't matter how it's done or whether it creates a show aura. That's why we've had a constant dosage of 1D, JB and anything on a similar line. On the contrary, this show is being packaged by the execs/producers who think they know how to do it. Obviously, I think it will fall apart quickly.

What listeners? The media must be in some sort of hype bubble. Anyway, what they talk about don't actually count in the RAJARs 8O .

I've just posted my first comment which could remotely be construed as "anti", and it was basically that he is beginning to annoy me because I don't like his speech affectations (not his accent, I like that, its the put-on campery that bothers me).
