That is.a good shout. A Sunday show ala Danny baker. And fill in for Danny when Danny is away. I like the Danny baker show followed by fighting talk. Something like a 9 - 12:30 show. Sports. Random chat. Hand over to chappers, Colin Murray for football or James Allen (allen is 5 live formula 1)

My mum had Smooth Radio on in her car when I was home over the weekend and I heard Emma B, Kid Jensen, and trailers for Simon Bates and Mark Goodier. Obviously where Radio 1 DJs go to die...

Also Andy Peebles and Kevin Greening used to be on Smooth Radio.

If they can't get a job on Radio 2, then Smooth is obviously their next choice.

I always thought Emma B was underrated.

Well, it definately seems it won't be at radio 1 anyway. Chris said on air this morning that he cleared his desk out yesterday, and Dom has tweeted today that he leaves radio 1 after 15 years tomorrow.

I hope that they all re-appear somewhere on the FM dial shortly. If they were to get another Breakfast Show, then we could see if the Radio 1 bigwigs made the right decision.....

Maybe Chris won't be doing a permanent show on Radio 1, just a weekend show? Then he wouldn't need a desk at Radio 1.

Or it could be that he won't be at Radio 1 while it is still at Yalding House, they are moving from there soon and we know Chris isn't doing any more radio this year.

I'm clutching at straws, I think.

I honestly don't think we'll get the team together in this way ever again. Maybe Chris will do some radio with Dave but I doubt even that. It's over - for real

If anyone running a radio station had any common sense (which it appears they don't) you would have been straight on the phone and signed them all up straight away; moved the whole show over to your breakfast slot. I would envisage you would retain at least 3 million listeners if not more. You would instantly have a top 10 breakfast show on your station.

Admittedly it might cost a bit; but we all have to speculate to accumulate.

Does anybody else agree that if, fingers crossed, Chris ever does make a radio comeback in the near future, it just wouldn't be right without Dave, Dom and Aled on his team?

I imagine Dave has a freelance contract similar to Chris. This will probably mean doing more 5live work but I would be very surprised if this isn't combined with co-hosting with Chris on a future Radio 1 show. I've said it on other threads that I would think Chris will take over from Sara when she goes on maternity cover for Fearne. Historically the late weekend morning has been frequented by more experienced DJs and not some kid so it would suit Chris perfectly.

(Before anyone picks me up on it: I'm too young to remember before Vernon and Sara did weekend late mornings and therefore when I say "historically" you could equally read "currently" because I know no better.)

Sorry, no, I meant Dom is. I was up at 4am and I'm very tired. Dave has not confided anything in me :)

It dosn't necessarily have to be a comeback on the BBC, im sure Chris could get a gig on any station he felt like with his c.v!
What i was getting at was, i don't feel it would be the same without his team beside him, Chris, Dave, Dom + Aled are the ultimate radio team, i am worried tomorrow is the last time we will ever hear them all together as a team and it's a pretty bleak feeling to be honest :/

No, after hearing his fill-ins for Greg James earlier in the year. Yes, the team are great, but Chris on his own is just as good.

Nicola_Red wrote:Well it won't. Chris is contracted to the BBC and we know that Dom is leaving the corporation.

I don't think it's so clear cut - Dom is freelance and presumably his current contract has come to an end. There's nothing to say that they BBC wouldn't engage him on a new contract at some point in the future.

I'm not sure - the show as it is would only work on the BBC. If you thought "play a record" was irritating, "play the ads" would be even worse. The first half hour just wouldn't happen anywhere other than the beeb.

That's true, yeah.
