I suppose in an ideal world they might, but Moyles has got to go somewhere and that slot seems ideal to me. Possibly not what R1 want long-term but for the final 18 months or whatever it is left on his contract it fits the book in my opinion

They could shuffle things about a bit so the serious music slot goes in the 9-10 slot I suppose. Failing that Chris can play all the new indie songs or whatever Radio1 wants him to play on his new show and just keep the format the same as the breakfast show. Just because the music he plays would be a bit hip and trendy doesn't mean he has to change as a broadcaster.

His contract is with the BBC, not just radio 1...isnt it?

As we understand it, yeah. Hence there's still the prospect of Radio 2 or Five Live etc.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/feb/05/ben-cooper-controller-radio-1

From the article Travis Bickle posted a while back:
The Guardian wrote:"He is fine where he is at the moment, he is doing great stuff," says Cooper. "He has got a contract until 2014." But the newly installed controller is equivocal as to whether he will still be presenting the breakfast show by then. "That is a private and confidential issue but he has got a contract with Radio 1. Whether it's breakfast or [elsewhere on] Radio 1 that is for me to know. Chris and I have talked about it and that's something that will stay between me and him."

That implies (though doesn't state he couldn't move elsewhere I suppose) it's with Radio 1 - I'm not surprised at that either, I don't suppose he would be able to move stations on the same contract because they all have different controllers.

If I had to put a bet on it, my money would be on Radio 2. Or it might be that I just WANT him to go to R2.

If today's reports are to be believed then he may be doing more television than radio in the future.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sh ... ck-TV.html.

It's probably a load of rubbish as per usual, but I do hope that this bit is true at least.

Chris is also understood to not want to make any more of his Sky Living dating show, Love Machine, after the new series airs this autumn.

From the two minutes of the first episode I managed to endure, that's one shockingly bad show.

I hate to say it but I have to be honest and say I don't particularly like him on TV. He has never come across well in my opinion.

I don't th ink they'll give Chris a new show on the basis of it being just to finish the remainder of his current contract. I think it's likely that a new contract would be signed or at any r ate they would want to make a longer term commitment to any new show than just a year. of course contracts can be mutually ended or re-negotiated at any time to fit in with the changed circumstance,so I'm sure that if Chris was offered a show on a different BBC radio station and he wanted to do it that would be arranged between the station controllers no problem

You could be right chrisjames, but I think I am correct in thinking that Moyles only signed one-year contracts before this current one, so to give him a new show for eighteen months doesn't seem out of the question to me. But I would imagine some sort of re-negotiation would have to be done to his terms anyway.

I just hope he goes to that time slot whatever the ins-and-outs of it may be.

I think I'm right in saying Ben Cooper and the BBC trust want him off the station altogether so for his sake I hope he goes to a new station. Why work for people who don't support you?

I am not sure about that. They don't want him on the breakfast show for perfectly justifiable reasons, but I don't see why that should necessarily apply to every show on the station.

I could be wrong about Ben as I don't know him personally to ask but he's hardly put up a fight to keep him on the breakfast show. It's just the impression I get. With Andy Parfitt Chris seemed to have a lot more freedom and I noticed a change in the show after Ben Cooper took over.

Well, when the person in charge changes, there are generally developments which reflect this in any organisation.

I'm going to stun everyone by saying..I kind of agree with Deadly. It seems to me that Ben Cooper hasn't gone out of his way to offer Chris another prime time show, certainly not on weekdays. All the talk is of him doing a night time or a weekend show, and even then not till next year. of course it might be that Moyles doesn't want another daily prime time show at this stage anyway

Well, the other one is him congratulating a mate who happens to work at Capital for being on the wireless for 20 years.

And I don't know what he's getting at with the one about their advert.

Aled said on Dev's show that it was "the end of the breakfast show" and not the end of the Chris Moyles show. Signs are encouraging.

Aled also said "Chris will still be around"

Obviously we don't know in what capacity, he might be moving to Newsbeat!

From Ask Aled, for anyone who hasn't seen it:

Aled wrote:I'm sorry - I knew as I said it more will be read into it than was intended. I'm keen on this not being a goodbye Chris show unless it really has to - and at this stage no announcement has been made by Chris or management as to the next step, so at the moment we're saying goodbye to the show.

Also, we've had Smooth 70s on the radio in the office recently and I heard a trailer for their 2-hour all-TV themes show. I reckon that would suit Chris down to the ground :)

Do you have the time into Dev's show when Aled was on? I would like to listen to it on the iPlayer
