Tim Henman has resurfaced for the Wimbledon coverage. He annoys me due to having no backbone and representing whats wrong with British sport. He is the poster boy for people who think it's ok to come second as long as you enjoyed yourself which is the total opposite of how it should be.

That's funny, because a majority of football pundits/journalists have been saying that the English football team (and certain club teams) need to improve their technical ability and not focus on 'grinding out results', and use this as a reason to why we're not considered a great team.

The fact that for the next however-many-weeks there won't be much else on in our house but Wimbledon. Personally I find tennis a bit boring. More fun to (try) and play.

Talking of women, annoying me today - someone I'm flat sharing with next year sent me this message on Sunday at like midnight. We're really close and get along so well:

Apparently I told her on-off boyfriend about her sleeping with someone else (when they weren't even together anyway). Its now like a bloody soap opera where she believes him over me when I have hardly ever spoken to him. Looks like next year could be eventful...

Anyway, annoying me today is a dilemma. Actually it isn't the dilemma that's annoying me, its the fact that if anyone else on here had the same dilemma, I would know exactly what to suggest. And I would be right, but for some reason I can't apply my own advice to myself.

Here it is - a promotion opportunity has opened up at work. The person who the role reports directly to has made it clear that she wants me to apply. The person that I would be line managing has called me to say that he would be very happy if I was given that role, and offered to meet with me to go over anything I might find helpful. The job itself however would be a MASSIVE challenge, and a long way out of my comfort zone in terms of the type of work and the environment. But it would be a hell of a challenge and I think I would like it. Also, even though I have been given all this encouragement, I would still have to interview for the position with no advantage over any other candidates - and I * HATE applying for jobs.

See I KNOW what to do. Why can't I just decide to do it?

A change is as good as a break and a challenge will occupy the mind more. You'd be silly to pass it up, especially with the support you've been shown before you even apply.

Something very similar happened to me about a month ago - and I didn't get the job, it was given to an external candidate. The girl who got it started, appeared to be fitting in fine, then 3 days later her former company decided they couldn't manage without her, called her and offered her a giant pay rise, and she went back to them. The position's vacant again and being re-advertised now...needless to say, I won't be re-applying.

If you're not in it, you can't win it & other tired cliches.
All they can say is no,and its not as if you'll lose your old position as a result of failing to get it either, is it?

The same applies to Nic, re-apply, pride doesn't pay any bills, & they are going to be much more wary of an outside candidate this time as well. Use their f**k up to your advantage.
So give yourself a day to fume & fret then get that application back in.
