What annoys me is how the people who have clearly no grasp of the concept of a "private life", and choose to live their personal lives in public like this, are the first to complain about being bullied/abused/invaded.

Facebook, as it is for the majority of users, is just bad for people.

I think there are times when you can display the affection like that over Facebook. For example I stand by the fact that I decided to publicly announce that my girlfriend was pregnant and say I was proud of her. As long as its not like stupid statuses every day it doesn't bother me too much.

Dan and I send links and stuff to each other all the time, that's not the same thing at all as going on about how amazing your other half is.

You do have Facebook-itis of the most severe kind though.

Ah but I send so many articles for the purpose of human rights/ethical debates, that the last thing I would want is for other people (with inarticulate, flawed views that I'm not interested in hearing) to weigh in on. Hannah and I usually provide each other with enough opposing views - the last thing we need is people weighing in who we're not bothered about. Plus the debate itself is pretty personal to us, as it happens so much. The last thing I'd want to do is open it up for everyone to read, because I wouldn't want people to get irritated by it, or think it boring/offensive (to the point where I'd modify my views.)

Plus the cutesy stuff is not for public viewing, and mainly ironic to the point where we enjoy it

This seems to be your excuse for everything! Don't get this from Char! (Or Shamrock Student for that matter. Is he a student still?)

No, its because you are an idiot with a blinkered and shallow perspective.

God no. I speak to enough students in my job to know that loads of them are absolutely thick.

Actually I want to apologise for that - I'm making a generalisation which I do include you in, but there was no need for that level of aggression or insult. Sorry Ben.

I have someone on my Facebook who has to mention every single day that he loves the band Queen and his girlfriend in the same status update.
If you have to reaffirm your love for someone on a daily basis in such a public place then you can't feel that secure in your relationship.

People pretending they have issues in order to make themselves seem interesting. People who create their own drama in order to get attention.

Well, person.

1) I do have issues. This isn't at all easy to go through at 19 while also going through Uni.
2) Anyone who knows me would definitely say that I am interesting.
3) I'm not trying to get attention, that's the last thing I want.
4) Why feel the need to rant about what I post on an internet forum if I'm really that uninteresting to you?

Ben - unless you have morphed into a 61 year old woman with strange teeth called Gill (the woman, not the teeth), I fear we may be at cross purposes here.

Edit: - however -

I'm guessing you aren't entirely happy with my response to your other post earlier - well, fair enough but if you are really having such a hard time with real, proper, BIG issues, Facebook and CM.NET are really not the place to resolve them. If you need advice, support, help there are places to go to get it and I suggest that you do, if you haven't already. If you have, great. It's not so much that I'm not interested in you or your problems Ben, more that I think you aren't helping yourself in the right way with them. If you want to do this, do it right and stop being what you would define a "student" and like I said, grow up a bit.
