Men don't get judged on appearance even close to the level that women do though and even if they do get judged, they rarely, if ever, get the hurtful tirades that women get subjected to. 'Tis unacceptable to pick on something that causes so many people so much pain and perpetuate the myth that everyone has to be stick thin.

DID YOU LEARN NOTHING FROM CHRISTINA AGUILERA?

Seriously though, trolling based on physical insecurities is pretty low. It's hot - you need more of your skin exposed to the air to keep cool.

If anything, you need to fully articulate your point (whether it's people being out of shape that you dislike - or whether the clothes the girls are wearing are pushing the boundaries of social decency).

I'm not trolling at all. I am stating I don't enjoy walking to work and being faced with a load of very overweight women wearing skimpy clothes. Who does like seeing that?
I don't want to start a big row over what I said and I don't feel it's offensive to say I don't enjoy seeing very large women in very little clothing. I've not used any derogatory language toward them either. Just saying its not something I particularly enjoy.

It would appear that women find your generalisations offensive.

Given that they may be the target of your opinion, you don't really have much right to dictate whether they can be offended or not. With a lot of women being self conscious about their weight, they may believe that you're referring to someone of their size with your comments.

Perhaps it's an opinion that's so unpopular/offensive - that you should keep it to yourself, as not to offend others (or have abuse aimed in your direction)

How about you get off your high horse and stop pandering to women?
My original comment is completely unoffensive and I don't apologise for it.

This is almost sig worthy.

I was trying to explain why other people may be taking offence to your views, if you've got no interest in understanding both sides of the argument then I believe I'm done here.

So you claim to speak for everyone in being able to say that your comment is inoffensive? I found it offensive and I'm clearly not the only one. You have no right to try to police anyone's body. You are entitled to dislike what you see, but I for one have no intention of changing to please any man (or indeed woman), so you need to learn to live with the fact that some people aren't attractive to you, rather than whining about it.

I'm off to put on a burqa now lest my arms or calves offend anyone's delicate sensibilities.

I don't recall whining at any point.
I'll say no more on the matter as it is for whatever reason a provocative subject and will say that no offense was intended in my original post.

Its always amusing when people say things that anyone in their right mind knows is going to cause offence, and then thinks that if they say they didn't intend to cause offence it somehow excuses them from being culpable for any offence which was caused. If you really don't want to cause offence don't say things that you know people will find offensive.

Steering this topic in a slightly different direction.

Annoying me today: Gorgeous day outside and cooped up in an office without air conditioning.

...and like an idiot I put jeans on today.

How is it offensive to say that I don't want to see hugely overweight people wearing very little? I can't see how that can be offensive in any way. If a big fat bloke was topless I would say the same thing. I'm not saying "if you're not a size 8 wrap up because it's horrible" as that would be offensive and that isn't what I think at all.

You really don't get it, do you? You're saying that women should cover themselves according to your own personal tastes and definitions of what's attractive. You're assuming that nobody finds women of a certain size/weight attractive, just cos you don't. How can that not be offensive?

I wasn't really being that specific. It was more a general observation really. I do think that your comments fall into that category, but I wouldn't expect that you would see that from any perspective but your own so you won't be agreeing in a hurry I imagine!

I'm not going to win this argument and I feel what I said originally has been blown out of proportion somewhat. The people arguing with me are people I enjoy reading comments from so Id rather leave the conversation where it is to avoid any further escalation.

Disorganised people who can't grasp that if they give my team work to do which they have prepared in a haphazard and disjointed way with no clear instructions, at least 2 thirds of it will not be done to their expectations. Gives me the irrits.

Isn't that the way everyone sends work these days? I know clients I do work for that do it exactly the same.

On work-related annoyances, one client insists on sending me EVERY email with 'High Importance'. It annoyed me so much and happened so often that I did this:

Problem solved, and I can read his emails without getting angry any more.

Irrits (the)-

feelings of irritation.. a scratchy annoyance.. like mild diarrhoea..

*Edit
Spent a good few minutes (any more and you're trying to hard) trying to turn 'Mild diarrhoea' into some kind of amusing shit related bit.

Turns out I couldn't. Must be home time for me.
