The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

To be fair I'm quite greatful (do you see what I did there?) when friends point out my spelling mistakes - I only really tend to get annoyed at myself for making them, but that's only because I'm pretty anal about spelling and grammar.

Are you sure that apostrophes aren't used for ownership Toph? I thought they were?

Not in "its", but they are in all other situations I think.

Also - I would like to point out I almost only ever contract "it is", I very rarely contract an "itis".

For ages I couldn't remember the difference between its and it's. I dunno why I had such trouble with it. I've got it figured out now, thankfully.

See? The whole "its" situation is confusing and there are many different opinions on what's correct. Hence why I choose to ignore it, which a professor of modern languages at York University told me was perfectly acceptable. He's clever, I'm listening to him!

See, for me its means "belonging to it" or "associated with it" and it's means "it is" or "it has", always. Inaccuracies in that always bug me. "Your" and "You're" being mixed up annoys the hell out of me too.

That is even worse. They aren't even pronounced the same way.

I don't think any of us should be pulling anyone else up about this stuff though. Non of us on here are perfect and unless you are you really shouldn't be pulling others up on their grammatical/spelling mistakes.

They are pronounced the same way - round here anyway.

Round my way, the words I'm and Home merge into one sound... Omm.

As in:

Omm going Omm. (I'm going home).

Travis - it was a joke! Chrysostom got it, which is I suppose all I should really care about, but I'm sure you'll feel happier if you realise it too! I fully accept that you may not have found it funny - well, you clearly didn't (can't say I blame you really) - but the point was not to correct his mistake, it was to read a very long, very informed and erudite post on a subject which Chrysostom is clearly extremely well versed and which displayed how articulate and persuasive he is on his subject - and take the piss out of him. VERY childish - but that's at least parly what we do here isn't it?

You're a serious young man Travis. I'm a not very serious old woman. I'll try to remember that about you, if you'll remember that about me!

Probably not. Old, not serious and add "blind as a bat" to the list.

Yudster, I thought I had a dry/sarcastic/cheeky sense of humour, but I could learn a bit more from you it seems.

I doubt it. My mum always said I should be a teacher but I can't think of anything more horrible.

Sometimes the best teachers are ones who don't think of themselves as teachers though.

It would mean having to go to school every day though. I still have night terrors about school. One of the best things about my life is that I don't have to go there any more.

Ouch, night terrors are pretty heavy. I have experienced them although I tend to mainly just have nightmares. And school majorly sucked for me as well. It was only in the last year I was there, when I was sitting my Advanced Highers and all the idiots had dropped out of my year, that it became half-decent.

I mean that 'the masses' are using a specific site or service. It has reached mainstream.

I really enjoyed this interview, it gave me a good laugh this morning. He is the kind of interviewee there is no point in preparing for as he just says whatever pops into his head anyway. I was disappointed though that he didn't answer the question about why Rufus Hound suddenly disappeared from Juice without it ever being mentioned on air. I'm glad he is gone, because he is not and was never funny and added nothing to the show, but the reason behind it seem to be a tightly guarded secret for some reason and I'd love to know why.

Found a thread on the digital spy forums which said:

"The rumours are that he quit as he wasn't asked to do the Jonathan Ross Show when Holly, Fearne & Keith were on it a few weeks ago"

No big loss, really. You usually only need two team captains on shows like this, like Buzzcocks. The only show which did well with a 'regular' was Johnny Vegas on Shooting Stars. Rufus never really added much in my opinion!
