3* dining isn't just food, it's a fine dining experience that will be one of the best in the world. Worth it if you can treat yourself to it.

I'm not the type to cry 'ban this' or 'disgraceful' at something that brings pleasure to others, but i would never be able to justify to myself that sort of expense for a meal. Even if i could well afford it. Which i certainly can't. :(

But if its good for others, then fire away & enjoy yourself.

No, it wouldn't be for me either. Even if there was a vegan equivalent, I'd still rather go for a Chinese buffet and spend the rest on shoes or jewellery :)

Really good dining is something that's totally worth it if you are into your food - if you're not then you won't be able to fathom spending that money in that way.

Which is the same with a lot of things, sporting events, cars, alcohol, holidays, jewellery etc.

Having said that, I always go to posh places on a lunch menu (which is usually generally half the price of dinner, for similar food) and ends up about £30-40 per head without wine - or I go on toptable with a 40-50% discount or set menu (which means the place won't be THAT posh)

The price has gone up £30 since we went... and it was really theatrical, it wasn't just a meal, it was four or five hours of entertainment and theatre on your table.

Having said that though, we've had a really fantastic Michelin-starred meal for considerably less since then.

The whole thing sounds a bit of fun though, especially if thats your interest.
The trouble for me if i ploughed in regardless into it would be i would have no real base line from which to test it. For most of the dishes, i wouldn't know if it was good or not as i would have had nothing much to compare it to.
Given that my favourite meals are a big 'f*ck off' Ulster Fry complete with all the breads & farls & beef sausages (hold the black pudding though) & a lamb rogan josh washed down with Tennants then,i'm possibly not cut out for that sort of hobby anyway. :D

I love food! Crap food, healthy food, good quality food. I also have a crush on Heston and have always said I would love to go to his restaurant because it is the best in the UK and has been voted the best restaurant in the world. So my lovely Topher took me there to ask me for my hand in marriage. How could I say no? It was amazing and yes a lot of money but it is an experience. Some people pay £200 for a 2 hour experience in driving cars round Silverstone and we chose to spend about that much each to have a 4/5 hour experience eating the best food available in the country with science experiments and magic tricks happening at your table to keep you entertained.

I would love to go back one day but I'm more keen to go back to The Hand & Flowers which is a 2 Michelin star pub in Marlow which does amazing food without the song and dance and is delicious just as it is.

Why would you drink Tennents out of choice? You can get cheaper beer that tastes better. Tennents is rank rotten.

Force of habit.

When i started out drinking in the late 70s there was only two types of lager you could get. Harp or Tennents.
Believe me, i choose the better option.
Have you ever tasted Harp? Christ on a bike ! :(

That's nothing. Just wait until iTunes deletes 12000 songs when you have over 20000 on your computer so you then have to go through selecting the 12000 again.

My cousin works for HTC and had the new One X - it was really impressive, seriously making me consider switching when my contract's up. A bit big though.

The Galaxy Nexus is nice but is going to get blown away by the One X and probably the Samsung Galaxy S3 when it comes. I want a One X really, really badly.

I've found the problem with most other phones to be that most of them feel cheap and plasticky - the One X feels amazing - really solid, comfortable and attractive.

Toph, he lives in Norway so it might be a bit tricky!

You can use other software, Mediamonkey and Winamp being two examples. Both sync with iOS devices/iPods.
