I followed through with my visit to radio 1 today to deliver a card for Matt and a biscuit assortment fit for a king. The security guard thought I was a crazed fan and was a bit edgy with me but the package was delivered safe and sound. The card I got him is priceless and I'll be offended if it isn't referenced on the show.

Tell him to stop being so corporate - "Go to sleep with Grimshaw", Chris would have a fit! :D

Seriously though, good stuff! :)

Me! I hate having unread emails. The plus side of this is that I unsubscribe spam rather than letting it build.

Yes, me too.

Also - I still don't like Grimshaw's show, Colin Murray did a far better job - but good luck to Matt, I hope he makes every success of it - sure he will!

Doubt you do but do you listen to the Late Night with Colin Murray (Radio Ulster) on iplayer whenever the new one is up? I probably would have liked his show on Radio 1 if it was somewhat similar but he was gone from Radio 1 when I started listening to the Breakfast show.

No.. I never have time to listen on the iPlayer, otherwise there's loads of stuff I'd listen to, starting with the bits of Moyles that I've missed and Simon Mayo!

I was disappointed that nobody except Dom remembered that Stayin' Alive was Matt's theme...

Aww, deadly that's lovely. I think we should do more for for the team's special moments. I think a few years ago the old, horrible bunch that hung out here used to do a lot for Chris' birthday.

And me. Most of my work these days is reliant on email so letting it build up, or allowing spam to be a problem, would make it far more difficult to stay organised and make sure stuff doesn't get left.

I can check my emails on my phone now, so I rarely check my inbox using my browser!

Also, this^

I genuinely miss Colin Murray's show, memories of playing GTA 4 on the Xbox with that on in the background :D

With Matt Fincham leaving as he has been promoted to producer I got to thinking about producers working with DJs and then moving to different shows.

When Greg James started out on early breakfast his producer was Neil. I thought Neil followed him when he got his early afternoon show.
Once I thought I remembered Chris and Rachel talking that she went back years on Chris' show before he got the breakfast show.
So until recently I thought that when you start out as a DJ there, you are paired with a producer who will follow the DJ as they keep moving to
different time slots. Then I heard (I thought from Chris) a different producers name being mentioned when talking about Greg James. Now Matt Fincham is becoming the producer for Nick Grimshaw. I thought Nick would still have had the same producer he started out with.

Is the main reason that a producer leaves a DJ's show because they get promoted to an executive producer, even if it is at Radio 6 or another BBC radio station or do the producers get rotated eventually?

Could anyone explain why the producers don't stay with the DJ they are first given when becoming a producer?

In Rachel's case, she was promoted to exec producer on weekends. It may be worth posting your question in Ask Aled, though.

By the way, you posted this thread twice, both times in Sound & Video Requests :)

Oops, that is why I didn't see it in the General section after I posted it. How the hell did I do that?? My posting twice must had been from going back on my browser to change some of my text. I will go and have some caffeine and wake up.

Thank you Nicola

If I've got it right Neil does a different job within the BBC now something to do with content rather than a show. Some shows have a bigger production team than others, Dev commented one of the big differences when he covered Greg at 1 is he has a bigger production team rather than just the 1 producer on Early's, Grimmy's producer went to be part of Gregs team which has I assume expanded while Scott's team stayed together.

Then you get cases like Freya who have gone from producing a couple of shows to being a full time producer hence the high turn over
