Suffering from Acquired Lactose Intolerance again, meaning I'm going to have to cut out dairy after 7pm for a few months - or risk being woken up with agonising stomach cramps.

Damn you cheese.

You should venture into a health food store and try some soy cheese - it definitely isn't the same, but the new stuff melts really well and if you have a desperate craving for a pizza or some cheese on toast, it'll do the job.

See, I never was. I used to eat a lot of cottage cheese and Philadelphia, but very little actual hard cheese cos it's so full of saturated fat.

Cheese is amazing, I don't know what I'd do if I had to cut it out. Cheese and meat are my staple diet. And syrup sponge.

You're so like my brother in that way. My family all eat really conventional British food - I'm the only one that will eat anything 'foreign', like, you know, pasta :)

Ah no, I'll try foreign food too - but foreign food can often include cheese and meat.

I was at a 'do' with a load of really posh-nobs and overheard a ra-ra say "what an odd combination, cheese with beef"...

Yeah, odd to everyone who hasn't ever heard of a Cheeseburger. F'kin idiot.

You're a tad more adventurous than my parents and brother. I think essentially they don't like anything with flavour. They always complain if I'm cooking a ready meal that it smells disgusting, which will be stuff like onions, herbs, spices...

Some of this may not please you, but it proves a point... I have eaten from (and very much enjoyed) this menu.

What's annoying me today? Getting some lovely new alloy wheels only to discover they have the wrong centre bore adapter so I'll have to fork out more to get the right one!

£180 per person!? What's wrong with a pot noodle?

Please tell me you mentioned it in this thread because you were horrified/saddened by the loss of life, and not just annoyed because it made your train late/cancelled....

I can't stand people who complain that their tube train service was interrupted by people throwing themselves on the tracks. Oh, what an inconvenience! Somebody died, for * sake!

/endrant

Also, anyone who spends £180 for that Heston menu is mad. :D

I was there waiting for my train, luckily down the other end. The guy was ok apparently. It annoys me because the person attempting to end their life doesn't think about the driver or the other passengers who have to see it. If you are in such a bad place that you feel suicide is the only option it's one thing but don't affect the lives of others by doing it. It must be horrible for the driver to have someone do that.

Oh I agree with this too, it just worries me that some people have such a careless attitude towards deaths. I remember watching an episode of that documentary 'The Tube' all about the underground. One member of staff told a story about how a guy died while on an escalator or stairs, and everyone was just literally stepping over him!

Maybe it's a syndrome that long-term users of the underground develop or something :)

3* dining isn't just food, it's a fine dining experience that will be one of the best in the world. Worth it if you can treat yourself to it.

I can't imagine what kind of nightmares you would have if as a driver you had to experience a suicide. There's nothing you can do either, it takes a long time to stop and obviously you can't turn out of the way. Horrible.

Don't talk to me about motoring accidents... Was subjected to another especially nasty one earlier this week on way home - judging by the state of the Jag, I doubt anyone survived. Horrible.

To be fair, if I had the money and lived a bit more locally I probably would try it. Pot Noodles are rank too. Super Noodles > Pot Noodles.

I'm not the type to cry 'ban this' or 'disgraceful' at something that brings pleasure to others, but i would never be able to justify to myself that sort of expense for a meal. Even if i could well afford it. Which i certainly can't. :(

But if its good for others, then fire away & enjoy yourself.
