The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

They've always had periods where they have a lot of guests in - mainly Christmas, but other times too. I don't mind the guests, I think it's fair to say I prefer it when they have less guests in, but it's the biggest radio show in the UK - people are going to want to plug their shit on it. Either way, there has been a huge overreaction here to it.

I still find it irritating that people on here expect them to come up with their own material out of nothing all the time (3 and a half hours a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks of the year).

It's a really difficult skill - and when they feel that they're not being as funny as usual, it must be a huge relief to be able to retreat to a guest or promotion for an hour of the show where they don't have to worry about the pressure of being funny.

*awaits complaining for when they talk about the apprentice*

52-6=46.

Your point is spot on, your maths needs attention.

Guests are a mixed bag, that's to be expected, but some of the best bits come from the guests -- "What's a Pork In Cider?"
Every second of Gino d'aCampo is GOLD!

I love David Guetta. He was such a great sport when Chris was ripping in to the "Beep beep beep beep" intros in his songs. When he said "Are we stll on the air?" I cracked up. He's great.

I understand that of course people want to go on radio shows to promote their 'projects' and I actually really enjoy listening to radio interviews with celebrities or others, but only if it's a proper interview in which the interviewer asks a few half decent and challenging questions. I listen to a lot of heavily interview based shows on other stations, and generally enjoy them even if I'm not particularly interested in the interviewer. This is usually because I find out something about the person or what they're talking about that I didn't know before or end up thinking about something in a different way. All Chris does is chat to the guest about nothing in particular and sometimes just talks nonsense (as with Guetta this week), so none of his interviews ever leave me feeling like that. I do understand the reasons why he doesn't approach interviews in this way, but I'm just explaining why I so dislike these sorts of weeks on the show.

I didn't hear the Sugar interview this morning, but am curious to know if Chris asked him any of the following; (a) Why he always insists that it's a show is a serious business based show and not a reality show, when it's very clearly a classic reality show (and a great one at that) from which you would be hard pressed to learn anything about business from because the bunch of entertaining doofuses they use in it aren't exactly the brightest business minds. (b) How they can claim they've selected a group of the most intelligent people in Britain when they are generally anything but (see end of question a) (c) Isn't he aware that only absolute pricks drive cars with personalised registration plates?

If he asked any of those questions, especially the final question, they I may have go back and listen to it!

So you want less guests so that Chris can chat to the team about nothing in particular and just talk nonsense?

That would suit me as well (or even just have Chris chat on his own). Monday's fill in show this week with little or no prep (and double the music) was far more entertaining (to me) than having a show with string of celebrities on the plugging circuit.

The interviews with Sugar, Rizzle Kicks and Tennant have been perfectly fine. They have had things to promote and talk about, and have been entertaining. With Guetta, it just descended into lazy impressions.

How on earth have you surmised that from what I've said there? Does Scott conduct his interviews with guests in a Jeremy Paxman like style? Somehow I highly doubt it. For the record, I can't stand Mills, he makes me cringe.

I agree with you about personalised number plates. Says a lot about a person.

Yeah, I have no idea why my dad wanted one. He's the least flashy person in the world ever but something about his cars just turn him into a right flash git. Maybe it's just that after so many years of being so broke they had to buy our Christmas presents second-hand, he's finally in a position where he can afford to spend money on nice cars. That's still not really an excuse though.

Ah, he doesn't need an excuse, if it makes him happy. Just because I think they're tacky as hell doesn't mean anyone else has to!

Piloting private planes tends to be a hobby as opposed to preferred method of transportation.

I like the idea of having a personalised number plate that's in a form that only me and my friends or family could decipher that's in the classic number plate format.

Eg. Your initials, followed by significant year and then your partners initials, so for me it would be AC10 HLN - a car is a significant purchase, and you should be able to customise it as you wish - just be aware how it will be perceived

I know someone who has a helicopter, his own jet (and can fly them both himself, although he doesn't usually, his pilots do), and has a garage containing lambourghinis, ferraris, the whole lot - his "day to day" car is a horrible huge Porsche thing. He's an ok kind of bloke to chat to, but scratch the surface, actually TALK rather than chat - yeah, he is really obnoxious. He has personalised number plates too.

I hate personalised number plates. Always makes me think they're trying to make up for, ahem, something else that's lacking.
