The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

So, do you agree with Chris/Dave or Dom?

Which ever side you are on, the link yesterday (I think) from 7:50-8:10 was so funny, I loved Dave's Chico/Thom Yorke line.

I am so with Chris and Dave on her, I saw her on Jonathan Ross and i wanted to slit my wrists after. She is so depressing and that voice just goes right through me. Lana Del Pain for me.

I havent heard the album, but I love Video Games and Born to Die. Chris says her music is depressing, but that isnt a bad thing really. I dont find it depressing, but at least she has connected with him on an emotional level even if he has misinterpreted the meaning.

I'd much rather that than be left cold by the emotionless and bland guff the likes of Ed Sheeran releases.

Erm - I think this is one of those rare occasions where it is perfectly possible to say no, that is empirically wrong.

You have totally taken that quote out of context. Re-read what I said and post again.

I think sometimes if you're in a melancholy mood, melancholy music is good. That said, I don't really like Lana Del Ray. Her voice is just a bit droney.

No, I hadn't noticed. Must have just pasted in Bas' spelling. I'll correct it!

If the hoovers going when I'm in bed then I tend to nod back off with the gentle drone. Del Ray has the same affect but I tend to feel down at the same time. Her voice is soo one toned and drunk in a pub style that she is definatley going to do one more album then fade away due to the fact her second album goes nowhere.

I'm sure that link will have annoyed people.

Dom's taste in music isn't uplifting based on the shuffle game!

It's better than Robin Thicke though :D

I don't really like her but I love Radiohead, which some people would consider to be similar.

Same here. I quite like Leonard Cohen too.....in small controlled doses.

I love Neil Young though & he's not exactly ray of sunshine either.

I like Video Games, but love Born to Die.

From what clips they played of the others, they'd be worth a listen too.

Don't get how people say her songs are depressing though?

For me it's not the songs that are depressing, just her voice.

She's a Red Head so I'm automatically in love with her, that said I like and dislike some of her songs at the same time. e.g I L-O-V-E Video Games, brilliant song but National Anthem...heh...

I think my point - or part of it - is that anyone who "wants depressing" doesn't have any genuine experience of what depression is, or what it does to you. So anyone who thinks listening to something which will encourage depression is a "good thing" is probably lucky enough to not know what they're talking about.

I used to like Video Games but can't stand it thanks to a certain station playing it several times during the night over the past few months. She is alright but she is one of those artists that Radio 1 tend to go gaga over and I am not sure why. Same goes with Florence & the banshee (machine) I don't like vocalists that are basically in the one tone and to me it just sounds dreary and dull. The XX are a group I do not know why they get praise because they are beyond dull and it is like depressing music the way they sing.

Indulging a bout of sadness is sometimes therapeutic in my experience, but there's a massive difference between depression and being down about something.

If something is upsetting you, sometimes you need a catalyst to realise your emotions, and let them out. Of course the best course of action is always to talk to somebody, but when it's something like your girlfriend leaving you, feeling fat or just being down about something that can be perceived as fairly trivial it can feel embarrassing to bother someone with it.

I quite like switching on a bit of 'sad' music to engulf myself in the mood i'm feeling in so that I can expel any feelings that I don't really want - in the same way that if i'm feeling happy i'll stick on 'modo - super gut'.

But I think you're right - people who listen to music to feel the emotions they talk about in the music are mostly angsty youths who haven't experienced them. Adele's phenomenal success is partially down to this in my opinion.

Agree with Travis, sheeran ruined the brits, although that's not hard to do.

Caught this lana woman on jools once, and can only conclude if yer gonna do slow moody stuff then it should be left to the heavyweights like coldplay and adele, the only reason sheeran made it to the spotlight is cos he is target age and we've gotta respect what he's 'doing'. Whatever that is. Wonder what mumford and sons are up to.

Mumford and Sons are actually currently recording a new album. They released a couple of new songs on to the internet only a month or so ago.

Sat and today are up
