The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

It certainly is in the sense that the drive time show is the second most prestigious show to be presenting.

That was when he was good.

That Becky is dreadful. When the first stupid giggly cow left (Laura?) I thought his show might get better, but no, he just got a clone of her in to do the same thing.

That's very true - I used to really like Mills on Early Breakfast. The other show I think he was brilliant at was the Chart Show. I think he's the best chart show presenter they've had for almost as long as I can remember.

It would bookend the breakfast show nicely IMO.

Agreed. The idea of the breakfast show ending with them leaving Radio 1 would be gutting. I would love them to go back to drive for a couple of years, and then move on should they wish. I want to hear what Chris and Dave sound like at they age they are back in a slot which they used to enjoy so much.

That would be nice, I'd love to hear them back on afternoons. I know that the Mirror is a rag and articles like this one are generally a load of made-up crap, but it does say 'A source said: “The fact plans are being made already when Moyles should have two more years tells you all you need to know."There could be a replacement a year earlier than planned. And Moyles, 38, could be moved to drivetime for the last year of his deal'.

So there could be a grain of truth in such wishful thinking.

But Big Man Ben said ages ago that Moyles contract until 2014 was with R1 and didn't necessarily mean he would be at Breakfast all that time. He was totally up front about that. So we know this is a possibility.

I tell you what, Dev should DEFINITELY get Breakfast when Chris moves on. He was bloody brilliant this morning.
#460439
No, you should listen again - I only caught the last 20 minutes or so but it was brilliant. Honest, have a listen. You won't regret it.

I don't know a lot about the workings of radio (management) but I'm wondering what will happen if they build up Greg James as the next Breakfast host and he doesn't deliver. For whatever reasons.

What happens then? Will they just go to the next person in line, for example Dev or will they allow someone to take the spot who hasn't been on Radio 1?
#460444
I don't think they would allow a newcomer to take breakfast. They'd just quickly find someone else (eg Dev), like they did after the Mark & Lard fiasco.

Oh definitely, it was almost as though breakfast had started a bit early. Couldn't believe it.

He's suddenly turned into an amazing broadcaster - almost overnight! Astonishing.

I like him too. But there was something very special about Dev's show this morning. Very special indeed.

Gregg is good. He's the nearest to a modern day Celeb DJ, he's fairly innovative and "down" with the Students.
Really though any management team that thinks * Fern Cotton is a DJ, shouldn't be relied on much, but she comes in the wake of Fake Whiley and Edith shoutey Bowman, so what hope is there?
Personnally I think if Chris moves from Breakfast he should get Ferns show, yes I know it's not the big show, but it would save the Old Fella havin' to get up so early, and would finish just on Pub O'clock, and it would mean I didn't have to listen to Ken Bruce and Jeremy Vine, which would be nice.

My vote goes to Greg. The guy is what Radio 1 want to be. He appeals to the target market without going too far i.e Cotton.

Dev is alright, but certainly not breakfast material. Not sure where I'd put him, he's alright when I wake up too early.

Huw is good, but I couldn't see him doing breakfast. They should give Dev Cottons spot and Cotton can carry on being insulted on Celeb Juice.

Sat and today are up
