The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

The lovely Daily Mail has commented on the birthday show, Chris should feel honoured. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... ction.html Much as I hate to agree with them on anything, I was thinking much the same thing when One Direction arrived. Nice to see that they're upholding their usual standards of ensuring there's a few mistakes in every story too. 'Although the so-called saviour of Radio 1 does not actually turn 38 until Wednesday he took to Twitter to explain Maida Vale was actually booked up so the team managed to get everything ready for this morning.' I must have missed the part of the show where that was explained.

The Daily Mail, honestly... Chris looked uncomfortable apparently; they cite his 'attack' on Steve Wright as earlier this month even though it was last year and in jest; the big rant about his pay which happened in September 2010 was apparently last year, details of which they still copy and paste into every article mentioning his name; the 'younger element' JLS and One Direction which made Chris feel so 'uncomfortable' were obviously there to balance things out but they got about a minute of airtime each... singing happy birthday to Chris.

That 'newspaper' is totally beyond me.

Ooh - time for a request I think... what time was it please?

That said - I do agree with Yudster. Although the orchestra was a brilliant touch - they've had the jingle singers live before haven't they? But jingle singers and orchestra was brilliant.

My favourite bit is where they say that Chris signed a '£1m, three year contract' (with no evidence, but would put his imaginary salary at circa £330k) and then follow up with "However, it was confirmed that he was staying at the station in the big money deal, which upped his previous £630,000 a year salary."

I've not heard Chris' response to the article, so forgive me if I don't know if he said anything about this little gem:

The loudmouthed star launched a verbal attack against fellow DJs Steve Wright and Dermot O’Leary in an unprovoked verbal attack on Alan Carr: Chatty Man.
Sitting on the sofa on the chat show, Moyles ranted about former Radio 1 presenter Steve, calling him 'completely crackers', 'totally nuts', 'weird' and 'utterly bonkers'.

I may be wrong, but I thought Steve Wright was one of Chris' radio heroes, and if he did say these things, then I'm sure he meant it affectionately. Also, the article doesn't mention his 'tirade' against Dermot O'Leary.

He did mention it at the time.
He said , if i may just give the gist rather than his words,it was a load of shite.
He was taking the piss & if you saw the actual remarks on TV it was extremely clear in what context they were made.
Absolutely no malice or offence whatsoever. And none was taken by the so called 'offended' parties.

Surely its fairly obvious that "completely crackers", "totally nuts", "weird" and "utterly bonkers" is EXACTLY what Steve Wright is trying to be? I agree with Moyles - ie that he is a brilliant radio broadcaster. Because that's what Moyles said.

The scary thing is that Daily Mail is the most frequented website of any newspaper around the world. They just overtook the New York Times.

Makes sense - everybody goes there, otherwise how would all these clever people be able to tell us about all the crap they write?

Don't bash the Daily Mail too much! Without them we wouldn't have She's Leaving Home, A Day in the Life, and a number of other Lennon/McCartney classics...

I saw this story when it came out and was reminded just what an epic bunch of biased crap the DM really is. It's not called the Daily Fail for nothing.

This can be taken as a sign that Chris probably still has a long career at Radio 1 ahead of him, which can only be good :D
