The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Usually the people who want to go are positive about it, and everyone else is negative. It's difficult to be positive about nonstop harping on about something that you literally could not care less about.

I think this is because they haven't announced the full line up. At the moment there are 35 acts known I think, and that's not the full list. I expect big bands to be announced later.

I think it's great - and very important to the station as a whole, and the promotion reflects that level of importance.

I think the fact the hype has started in early Feb dosen't help.

I don't like the hype and bar three or four acts I don't usually like the bill for Radio 1 events either. Same applies for the line-up so far this year, but it is in the empty few days between my final GCSE exam and my expedition to Kenya so I may apply for tickets...

Wow. That's impressive. You'll have a great time.

You better have internet out there though to keep the Golden Hour Game running...

Each year the over the top One Big Weekend promotion irritates me (along with the 'thank you radio 1' trails afterwards) but this year is seemingly going to be ever worse, 6 weeks of registration!

I might be alone but is it really necessary to waste so much air time on it it's not like they struggle to give the tickets away?

No, your not alone, I agree, fed up already.

This is gonna milked and squeezed of every last drop promoting this, as it always is every year without fail, but because its on later than usual this is gonna be even more annoying.

Besides after hearing most of the acts appearing which is too dance and R&B heavy for me, I like proper instrument playing bands personally. Bombay Bicycle Club are a great band (up there with Coldplay, Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs, The Killers & Kings Of Leon for me), their third & current album that was Zane Lowe's album of the year & their first album was also critically acclaimed, the reason many people haven't heard of them is because Radio 1 would rather play Lady GaGa & Rihanna on a constant sodding loop. BBC 6 Music plays their stuff along with quite a few other bands that should get more air time.

Steve Penk (remember him) was having a rant on Twitter about most Radio stations playlist these days & although he was going the wrong way about it he did have a point, with the exception of 6 Music and a few others on DAB most stations play a dull & restricted playlist, Heart has got even worse of recent & as for Capital that's gone from a great station to a sack of shite, as far as I'm concerned Capital FM died the day Chris Tarrant, Dr Fox & whoever else was still about then left.

Regarding the Hackney Weekend, I though they were taking the piss at first, I only listen to the first half hour of the show so haven't heard any ads yet but have they said what part of Hackney this is going to be in because there's nice Hackney & there's "make sure you pack your bullet/stab proof vest & weapon for defence" part of Hackney as well. ;)

Honestly, I think the line-up kind of sucks and hardly any bands whatsoever but might change that when it is closer.. Wonder what auto-tune man (Will.i.am) will say instead of Hackney since he has a tendency to get places wrong doesn't he?

Will.i.am, what a shit name, I always call him William and get corrected, apparently adding dots in the middle of your name is hip and happening

Dim.i.am doesn't sound as good.

But, aside from the mildly silly name, Will.i.am is a top bloke.

Well I'll jump on the slagging off bandwagon as it seems there's no defence for having a stage name like will.i.am*

*of course this is presuming I ignore that it's probably a play on 'Sam I Am' from Dr. Zeus.

I saw a post somewhere with the Reading & Leeds lineup for this year, it looks terrible. People have been saying it's gone too commercial and I have to agree. There's some big artists playing but none I really actually like.

My brother - who has been going to Reading every year since I first took him when he was 14, and in fact had his honeymoon there - has abandoned it in the last couple of years cos the lineups have got so terrible. It's just due to the sheer number of festivals and events like this and the limited number of artists available, I think. Last year he went to Beautiful Days which is a little non-commercial festival and loved it.

The crowds there are just shocking too, 17 year old, middle class sixth form leavers who use it as an excuse to wild out when daddy's not there.

Mm, very true. When I started going to Reading it was such a weirdly niche thing to do. Strictly the preserve of the grunge kids. 'Festival chic' hadn't been invented yet.
