Did he announce it on the show this time round? I just noticed he was talking about living in a flat now and hadn't mentioned Jane for a while, and did a bit of research. Is this why he's doing so much gigging right now, like John Cleese's alimony tour?!

No, he didn't announce it on the show. But he did on Twitter and also put out a press release. This was all discussed at length in the threads 'Dave & Jayne' :

He's been spilt from her coming up to a year or so since I think it was not long after the marathon show when they went their separate ways. Can anyone tell me when he spilt from his first wife since I am listening to the old 2004 shows (on June). To be honest though, I'm not surprised he spilt from his first wife because he seemed just as bad as Chris in some instances on the show back then but matured a little I guess over the years.

He announced the divorce on air in Sep 06, but I think that was only when it was finalised. So they must have split early that year. I know I had just started browsing this site and there was a long thread running speculating about the state of his marriage cos he had been making references to eating meals alone and the like. In fact did I link to that thread in the Dave & Jayne one...?
