our lame ass filter proxy tries to block everything bad, like chat rooms. So it blocks any Geocities website - yet it doesnt block my chat room which has the potential to be bad.

It blocks a load of things, you can't play games on yahoo in class, most chat rooms. Lol, well David yes it has a lot of potential to be bad, but of course we are so well behaved it never does...

in our school your not supposed to use the net if there is no teacher in the room... but that doesnt work as you just use the net... simple.

Our school's fine with the net. We're not SUPPOSED to check our email or anything, but they don't get too bothered if you do.

They check the sites that you go to, but, as you'd expect, most ones that they wouldnt want you going to anyway are blocked, so theres never really any problems.

All e-mail passages like msn and yahoo or blocked at our school, though we do all have a schoolmaster email address which kinda beats the purpose if you ask me. This site was blocked for years, its only when we changed to broadband I could start coming on here in school time.

At my fromer school, we had this psyco IT teature who doubled as the Network Administrator. He used to sit in his office all day and remotely monitor all the machines. You wern't supposed to use the net for anything even remotely uneducational. He could take over your machine if he caught you looking at anything improper. The best thing to do was to switch your computer off and it would crash his computer too! Needless to say, me and him did not get on very well, and my account was disabled on numerous occasions.

The uni network is pretty cool, but I can't get into the chatroom as you all know. You're not supposed to use the internet for anything non-educational, but they don't really bother too much as long as it's not too busy. Yahoo games is blocked too, which is a biatch. It's cool though, because I can just come in and run a pay as you surf program all day!

we're not supposed to check any email other than schoolmaster which is monitored by the school BUT you can so easily check other email accounts and if you didnt want to do that you could just setup a fetch remote pop3 email in school master.
