Hush duckie, nothing to do with planning better, if Leeds had gone through instead of us they probably would have left it on the Saturday. It's not just us ESPN have done it to, they've done it a fair few times before. Plus ESPN have Savage and Keegan, thats irritating enough as it is.

I'm alright now Yuds, having thought about it I do get 3 days off work which is always a good thing.

Wiki being down to protest SOPA tomorrow is going to be a pain whilst I'm writing essays. I'm aware you're not meant to use it, but it's handy for little tidbits so long as you don't reference them!

It would appear that mobile apps (such as Wapedia for Android) are able to access. Also the mobile site is up, which you can access from a desktop web browser by going to en.m.wikipedia.org rather than en.wikipedia.org.

After Chris reading out Dom's wiki entry on the show the other day, you should all know better than to trust it for academic purposes! But it's handy as a starting-off point for other, hopefully more reliable source material. Incidentally, I used to be a member of a Lost forum where the rules were so strict that in the 'Serious Discussion and Debates' section, it was specified that, when making an argument, you weren't allowed to use wiki as your source. And people think we're heavily moderated here :)

Well, if you will ask...

catherine wrote:It's heavy compared to how we used to be modded, I just think all the messing is unnecessary.

I believe that was in reference to Ben's celeb raspberry archive.

catherine wrote:This forum is too modded these days.

That was in reference to me warning a badgering poster in Ask Aled.

Gaspode has also made comments to the same effect, I just can't lay my hands on any right now. I believe that's why he no longer posts here.

Good shout. Always good to have Wiki there just in case. My mind will draw a blank at some point today.

You mean "*yawn* no one cares" :)

Ironically, I do often use wiki to check Dave's facts when I'm doing the Tedious.

Ahh, but that's all mainly because you edit and move things a lot more than Chris or Console ever did - that's a fact, though it possibly has slowed down of late - not because of more warnings to people (I know one of the comments was in response to a warning, but it's a case of the straw that broke the camel's back). I think everyone recognises the rules are very relaxed here.

bmstinton93 wrote:OK, so I just typed Encarta into Google to find out and of course the top result which looked like it was going to explain it was wikipedia. Damn.

I do, that's very true. I freely admit I have OCD and I like a tidy forum.

But Wiki URLs are so easy to guess, you can normally type them without Google. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/[Subject_matter]

But why should your OCD come into things that you do on this forum for other people? You managed the way it was before you had heightened priveleges...

bmstinton93 wrote:It turns out you can access the full version of wikipedia still by simply disabling javascript. I've just done it and it works.

That's a pain if you can't do it on a site-by-site basis though.

If you're on Google Chrome then you click the spanner, then Options, then under the bonnet, content settings, then click the 'manage exceptions' button under javascript and block wikipedia from accessing it. For any other browser just type it into twitter and there will be instructions somewhere.
