The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Anyone else giving this show a go? Not my usual style - presumably this isn't live or Chris would have been in with Westwood for a while at least.

Yeah I don't think its live either. Chris would have been talking about the texts if it was. I'm gonna listen for about another 5 minutes then just wait for the edited version.

I'm so convinced its pre-rec'd. plus the fact the webcams have been turned off too does help with my suspicions.

When was it this past week that Chris was in Radio1 till late?

Definitely recorded, he was playing Million Pound Drop at home. He wouldn't have done that at work.

It seems rather too perfect to be live; either Chris has been practicing like nuts, or it's a pre rec.

I've recorded the entire segment, so if anyone wants to download it they can do so by clicking here.

Didn't Aled more or less give away the fact it wouldn't be live when he mentioned that he planned to play some clips of it on Friday (13th) one of the mornings earlier in the week? Chris hushed him up quickly though, and he also tweeted this evening 'PS I'm on Radio 1 tonight with @mistajam and I will mix LIVE at about 11:40 ish. Tune in. I'm really excited about my mix!'. The latter in particular seems like an odd thing to do when for several reasons it's pretty clear that it wasn't live.

Just because the show was pre recorded doesn't mean he didn't do the mix live though. Given that he's been banging on about it I would say its unlikely that it's been touched up in post-production.

I listened to the first half hour, but the music was sapping my will to live so I turned it off. I'm pretty sure either Ben or Ian is planning to edit the show, so an edited version should appear in the archive soon.

This show doesn't appear to be on get_iplayer yet?

EDIT: Ok, just as I typed that I got an email off Ian. He's sent me the edited show so I'll upload it now.

I think it was recorded on Wednesday afternoon. Greg James said Chris was in the studio next door 'practicing'. Also that day mistajam was on in daytime with Fearne Cotton. And Chris recorded the mix as live.

I would have preferred Chris to have been on with Kissy Sell Out. He got on with Kissy far better than he did mistajam on the marathon show and I think that was one of the highlights of the whole thing for Chris. Certainly it surprised him how much he enjoyed it.

I quite liked last nights show as I am quite partial to that sort of music anyway and Moyles came across well, but I am not a fan of mistajam.

Problem is that I think Kissy Sell Out is on the way out I believe since isn't he one of the ones getting the chop along with a few others? There was a thread about it on here not too long ago. I agree in that I think he enjoyed his time with Kissy Sell Out more than Mistajam and the two shows with him were low points for me during the marathon show since I am not into the type of music that was played.

mistajam is just too overpowering in my opinion. In the marathon show Moyles pretty much had to tell him to shut up. And even last night, I know it was his show, but he was just too much for me.

And Judge Jules is leaving as well. He was given the chop and is going to become a lawyer if I remember correctly.

Are you sure that wasn't a joke?

That's why I didn't bother to listen, no offense but Friday and Saturday nights on R1 are utter wank and that's not what I call music. After what you wrote about the first half hour seems my option was a correct one (want to keep my will to live), even more so if it was recorded, seems a bit of a cop out but others may and have disagreed. But TBH I was never interested anyway.

I know that the BBC are supposed to be transparent. I think it should have been told that the show was pre recoreded. I wonder how many people actually spent money sending in texts into the show, thinking it was live.

I enjoy that kind of music but there was too much music and not enough talk. I like MistaJam but he did talk too much not allowing Chris to speak.

Heard the mix this morning and most of it was just utter noise to me although it got to listenable level towards the end. That's the kind of music that I do not care for whatsoever and I know that music has their audience but I am not apart of it.

Isn't taste a wonderful thing... That jazz was right up my street, loved it.
