The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Well I was right with my thoughts Today's show wasn't worse or better than your typical Friday show. Did like that they talked about Vacation and can't believe Dominic has never seen them. Love those films and Holiday Road is just one of those catchy songs you can't help but love.

What it did show is that when there's no Chris and Dave reverts to ''David Vitty' rather 'Comedy Dave - Chris' comedy sidekick', he really is a very poor presenter. Having to have a more focal part of the show rather than a background role and jumping in with the odd comedy quip, Dave really doesn't add a lot to the show.

I much prefer a complete change to the line-up when Chris is on holiday rather than a few of them lingering and trying to keep the CMS show going sans Chris Moyles.

I think the whole team is better when Chris is there. I don't see any need to single Dave out, especially as I thought he was perfectly acceptable on Friday. Of course his role changed, but he was still fine in a role that naturally doesn't suit him.

For me, the mistake that is made when Chris isnt on air is that they still stick to the same formula as if he is there. That is wrong. Moyles is the only one on Radio 1 that can talk for three-and-a-half hours, so to expect someone else to just come in and do the same whilst being equally entertaining is asking too much.

I would keep Dave as the on-air sidekick and have Dom and Tina involved in the show, but only briefly just after the news, and far more freedom should be given to the stand-in (Vernon or Sara) to do their own thing as they normally would on their own shows.

I though the opening link was good, they've obviously had a discussion about how to go with the show.

What's all the COmedy Dave hate of recent, we had this ten years ago when people started disliking him on the afternoon show.

Vernon wasen't too bad, did notice more somgs than I'd usually hear on the way into work though!

Golden hour diden't have all the bells and retro jingles that Chris squeezes in but not a bad listen at all.

Have to disagree. Dave stepped up and pretty much led the interview with Robbie Savage and sounded perfectly competent. And to be fair if the idea was that Dave would present, why bother getting Vernon in?

One thing I did find annoying was that as well as being treated to more of the bilge on the Radio 1 playlist than usual, we also got the standard Radio 1 jingles a lot of the time which just don't sound right at breakfast.

I believe the team did well enough, not as good as when Chris is in, but then that's why he get the megga bucks.

As for Dave, I do like him, he's not a superstar DJ, but he is the Liz Taylor of Radio one.

This morning's show was awful - I couldn't wait to get out the house and put my mp3 player on. How many more times could they say the phrase "he's having a long weekend"? The more they went on about it, the more it sounded like a cover for something. It brought to mind the "sicky-poo" nightmare of last year (when he was splitting from Sophie). I don't care that much why he's off, just stop going on about it!

Oh that was Vernon's rock-bottom. What a terrible show that was. Upsettingly though, having mentioned that, you have made me wonder if there IS something more to it - I hope Chris's folks are ok.

Why does anything need to be wrong?!! Chris has obviously known about this long weekend for a while, so why the assumption its a knee-jerk reaction to somefink bad 'appening.

Long weekends = Good fun.

Chris Moyles = Single.

'Single' and 'good fun' go arm in arm together....

He said he was spending the weekend with his folks, that's why I made the connection. I just remembered the "sicky-poo" show, thinking at the time that there was clearly something more going on as Vernon sounded so self conscious, and now Nic said what she said and I made the connection to his folks. The other thing that occurred to me was that he might be spending some time with them because he had something really important to tell them - like he is leaving the UK to live and work in the USA.

But while yes, I really did have all those - and more - thoughts flash through my head, that's just the stupidly over-reactive way my mind works, I know that, I don't actually believe any of them.

But also, if I wanted a typical single lad's weekend, I wouldn't go and stay with my parents to have it.

I thought it was a bit harsh them having a go at Marcus and his not speaking.

I can see how its daft to go on radio show and not be able to take but if he didnt go on, people would wonder why he didnt go. People may think hes being diva or something. Just pretending to be ill and then lose votes/popularity etc.

I know it was being a bit jokey from Vernon but I am sure Marcus didnt take it that way

Couldn't agree more, it seemed every 5 mins they had to mention it and I was like, "We get it already, stop saying it!" Plus, could that X-Factor interview be any more sleep-inducing? But since when has those interviews been exciting? If you're a fan of the show, it might entice you but I can't stand the show and the only thing that will come out of the show this year is the controversy behind stuff like Frankie 'Coke'cozza etc.

As soon as music was played i stopped listening then forgot to turn it back on. Chris is more selective of what he is allowed to play but Vernon plays what is next i guess. I stopped listening this morning when the xfactor people were in, i wasn't interested in the slightest. So i am glad that Chris will be back tomorrow whne things get back to normal.
