The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Surprised no one has commented on this. I wonder whether this could mark the begging of the end for Rob's quiz on the CM show...?

Dave obviously isn't at all happy because Rob has produced this app and is presumably keeping the profits for himself, even though it is Dave who wrote the material. As far as I understand these things, it's usually the writer of the material who owns it, unless other terms have been agreed. Anyone know anymore on this matter? Seeing as he's charging £1.49 for it and it was in the top 25 apps in the week, he must be making a little bit of money off it.

Maybe I've read too much into that tweet, but if not, it'll be interesting to see what the ramifications are for Rob and his feature. As Longman proved, no long term friend of the show is indispensable...

I think you've possibly read too much into it to be honest.

I very much doubt that was a tweet of genuine nose-put-out-of-jointedness, I think it was just a sarcy joke.

When I saw it, it made me chuckle, as I'd imagine it made Rob.

That's just what I thought too.

Quite possibly I have, but Rob didn't reply on Twitter and Dave didn't thank him for buying the book. Maybe he did that privately... Also, though less conclusive, Dave didn't RT that and he hasn't to my knowledge plugged the app for Rob on his Twitter feed. He was also the main one last week (or the week before?) telling Chris that he couldn't plug Rob's app on air, but Chris did it in a roundabout way anyway. At the time I just thought Dave was being corporate...

Anyway, as you say, most probably nothing. :)

Whatever did happen to Longman?
I enjoyed his jingle if nothing else!!

I remember Chris kind of mentioned something about not being invited to his wedding or something.

I'm sure you've now read the thread, but if I may indulge for a moment, the playing of a pissed Longman singing Dominic the Donkey is one of my radio highlights of each and every year.

Ace.

I expect I would too.

Damn, beat me to it.

Didn't know about all this, but reading through it now, i don't half feel for Dave, bless him. I'm gonna get the book, when I get chance (and paid!).

jealous of Nic etc who turned up and managed to get one-on-one time with Dave! I'd have tried to tempt him to pack it in and come pub instead!

Thanks Nic.
The scariest part of that Longman thread is that it's well over 3 years old! It only seems like the other day I heard Chris play the Longman jingle. Time really does fly...

And the pissed up Dominic the Donkey clip is pure genius.

They both mentioned something similar the other day - I think Aled commented on how he hoped 'an act' took time to appreciate what they were doing right now, Chris and Dave said the only way they can remember what they did last week was by looking in the archives here.

He was on a cooking program at lunch time. The program it self is a pile of wank but he wasn't bad. Lilly Allen wrote something nasty about him and retweeted some other people writing nasty stuff about him. Then loads of people started saying nasty stuff in hope of a retweet. I really hate all this negativity towards Dave at the minute, everything I read about him is negative. Even on a fan site!

Shame.

What did he say about Fatima Whitbread that he had to apologise for (and delete the Tweet, I think)?

I imagine something to do with her having the appearance of a man. The Kriss Akabusi joke wouldn't fit on twitter.

I don't mind him on twitter. I mean his tweets aren't the most exciting and I get bored of him talking about his kid, but I wouldn't say he was an arse. I came away from meeting him feeling a bit weird, but I think that was mostly to do with the fact that I'm not used to being a 'fan' in that situation, not to do with how he acted. I'm still very glad I made the effort to go to the signing, and pleased enough to have posted the photo on facebook - even if I do look terrible in it!

I met him once at an Everton match (he stood on my foot on the way to the little boys room, and we then chatted briefly at the bar), and to be honest, he was almost exactly the same as most people I go the match with - which I think is why I like him on the radio so much, he has a familiar sense of humour and a familiar persona about him.

I imagine in a public 'fan meeting' he might be a bit awkward, because that's how I think I would be. You know when you meet someone and you really don't know what to say?

Hahaha!

I can just imagine him sitting there with his usual miserable expression. What did you expect Vitty? Queues of screaming fans worming through the shop and down the street? The guy isn't the least bit funny or talented, I just fail to see what he could write about. It was a cynical attempt to make a few quid from Moyles fans because he has another divorce coming up.

This will keep me laughing for ages. I was sooo looking forward to seeing him at my local Waterstones, too!

seems an overly harsh critique of someone going on a partially viable commercial venture.

oh wait, you're a massive c*nt. never mind.

Hmmm - even if it IS a Divorce Number Two Fund project, I'm not sure its cynical exactly. People tell me its a decent enough read too (unlike Moyles' second book which was terrible). I wouldn't be surprised if someone got it for me for Christmas so I expect I will find out for myself at some point.
