Surprised no one has commented on this. I wonder whether this could mark the begging of the end for Rob's quiz on the CM show...?

Dave obviously isn't at all happy because Rob has produced this app and is presumably keeping the profits for himself, even though it is Dave who wrote the material. As far as I understand these things, it's usually the writer of the material who owns it, unless other terms have been agreed. Anyone know anymore on this matter? Seeing as he's charging £1.49 for it and it was in the top 25 apps in the week, he must be making a little bit of money off it.

Maybe I've read too much into that tweet, but if not, it'll be interesting to see what the ramifications are for Rob and his feature. As Longman proved, no long term friend of the show is indispensable...

Apologies in advance if this is an outrageous question, but does Dave give any clues in his book as to why he and Jayne broke up? I don't think it was ever established in the terrible, despicable, sickening, disgusting, out of order original thread on the matter of their split...

I'll probably get his book eventually. I was put off it by the whole 'get your name in the book' deal though, which just seems to scream of the book being full of filler. :(

Not from any of my recolection of the shows since dave's divorced was said through the papers and twitter has DAVE OR ANYONE ON THE CMS MENTIONED ANYTHING TO DO WITH DAVE'S DIVORCE.
Dave has not said anything on the matter and the thread that gave alot of info that was uncalled for in my opinion. And the ones Including the sickening posts saying chris was getting with jayne on holiday why dave was in london doing the show with sara.
Would you be happy that a private matter that you wanted to keep quiet. And did not speak of on air. Being broadcast on the fansite of the presenter and the show. When none of you know the facts.
Dave probably was very disheartened by the comments that were made. Very uncalled for.
In truth. The thread shouldn't of even been created. And who can blame dave for being as cold as he is to the people of the fansite.

pull your tongue out of Dave's arsehole.

This is a Chris Moyles Show Fansite and Dave is a huge part of the show.
As fans of the show, we like to discuss members of the team.
They live their lives on air, especially between 6:30 & 7:00.
Dave thinks of himself as a celebrity, therefor he can't moan when people discuss his private life.

simple fact is, he can't have it both ways.

Are you serious. Have you ever seen the thread that was created. It was some of the most uncomfortable reading i've seen in the thread discussing his divorce on here.

The view that i take is that if it was said on the show. Then it is free reign. (within the parameters nicola, and chris gives.)

Dave neither broadcast the news of his divorce OR Talked about the divorce on air.
Thus. What gives you or anyone, anywhere on the internet the right to divulge in a thread on the fan forum of the illicit details of someone who is wanting to deal with the divorce in his own way. minor celebrity or Not...
If dave wanted to talk about his divorce on the air. By all means. But then we do it respectfully. Not as some people on here did do and went for blood.

I haven't had chance to read the book as of yet. But i am sure that dave talks about both divcorces in a positive and respectful way.

But Who cares what i say. Dave is the one who possibly reading the sickening posts that were written in the thread. if he did read them, expecting the fans of the show to show him support. Which clearly was NOT the case.

And why should it concern you g-sizzle about anything abouts dave's divorces, It's people like you who keep the newspapers in business. Idle gossip about peoples failings just so you can get a kick at seeing someone suffering in the news.
Next time there is a death in your family, or you get divorced, or something bad happens to you. Why not post it on here and let me take the piss out of what problems you have.

Celebrity or not. The things that were negatively said on the forum back in may have certianly been contributing to dave not having the most plesent of relations on this site with us.

Depends on the app really, if it just uses the "when I say blah blah" then dave might have a point, but if its a quiz app as well then its kind of 50/50 really.

Wireman, Dave AND Jayne both talked about their divorce on Twitter. Dave and the team spoke about it on the show. Nothing was divulged on here (whatever certain individuals might want us to believe, no one on here has that kind of access to inside information), it was merely discussed, and why not?

Sickening!!??? Maybe im too thick skinned for my own good, but I don't see how anything in that thread was sickening. You're being abit ott there.

I cannot think of one celeb couple whose divorce wasnt discussed in public to some degree, it's all part of living in the public eye. I'm sure Dave knows the price of celebrity.

I honestly wonder if anyone would have these opinions if Aled & co didn't acknowledge the existence of this website.

I assumed Dave was just being sarcastic to be honest. It didn't occur to me that he was seriously annoyed. I doubt he'd tweet it where everyone could see it if he was.

Unless you're following both Dave and Rob, you won't usually see that tweet.

Having seen some of Dave's book, where he has included some "clever inventions" -- I wonder if any (all?) of those are ideas he wrote for the Chris Moyles Show? In which case, they are all (c) The Beeb, so he would be calling Rob a black kettle if that were so.

I don't think Dave has specifically mentioned the separation (are they actually divorced?) on the show. It's been very much a case of the audience being able to read between the lines when Dave mentions he's looking after Nicole for the weekend, or moving in to his new flat.

He did however issue a statement. Just not on TCMS.

This is your view though - nobody else is bound by it. The rules of the site don't ban or even discourage gossip and speculation about the team - if you find it distasteful, just don't participate. The only way in which the Dave/Jayne thread was curtailed was when Aled asked that the photos of Chris and Jayne on holiday be taken down, and if I recall rightly, it was the OP that removed them rather than a moderator.

I don't think Dave has ever stated explicitly on air that he and Jayne have separated, but both of them have mentioned it on Twitter and an official statement was also issued. So unlike his divorce from Emma, its no secret and as Dave states in his book, discussion is inevitable when you're in the public eye. I personally felt that the speculation about Chris and Jayne went into a bit of a weird area, so I just stopped participating in the discussion. I wouldn't wanna stop others from doing so. If that means Dave looks unfavourably on the site, then so be it. I still believe firmly that we create a great service for fans of the show here, and I wouldn't let Dave's opinions stop me from working on the site.

Or if you look at Dave's profile you'd see it.

Surely with regard to the inventions, as Dave is freelance the material belongs to him and not the BBC? He'll have had lawyers look over the book and if he was breaking copyright, that would,be the first thing they'd point out.

Oh dear. To be fair it's only £8 on amazon though. I paid £16 for my signed copy if you include the train fare to Bolton, and I've already finished it!

No, you have to buy it there. I now have to return the copy I'd ordered from amazon, which arrived yesterday :)

I'm not Dave's agent, but I'd say not a chance. Unless he's come up with a ground-breaking deal, he's written material for the BBC. It's their copyright.

Just as Ricky Gervais writes and shoots telly for the Beeb, he's also not an employee. Per the screenshot below, the copyright for his Beeb shows is owned by the Beeb:

So is it standard practice for celeb authors to have lawyers look over their books? I don't really know much about this stuff, I guess I just assumed it would be.

I think it'd be more likely that the legal dept. of the book publishers would review it. I don't actually know if any of the content from the show is in the book and also if Dave would have brought that up (how would the lawyers know otherwise?)
#452183
There's plenty of material from the show in there. You've heard all those fake ads that are in the Adverts section in the sound vault? Many of them are reproduced as print adverts. Shatner Pants, Bollocutor, Armpit Hair Extensions...that's just off the top of my head, without picking up the book.

I don't understand this at all.

There is a debate relating to Dave's view of this site? Based on gossip over Jane?

BOLLOCKS, he has never understood the site, liked the site, looked at the site much, and has often referred to us all as "GEEKS"

The fact that to make our petty socially inept lives fullfilled we talk shite about him and his family isn't going to matter to him, that much , I am sure.

Well it shouldn't, but grudges usually indicate a degree of depth of feeling.

OK, good. So Dave is really calling Rob a black kettle!

1) The BBC pay Dave to write for TCMS

2) Dave writes fake ads which are played out on the show

3) Dave repurposes his BBC work (the ads) for his book. Which he makes money on and the BBC make none

4) Dave gets angry at Rob for repurposing his BBC work for his app. Which he makes money on and the BBC/Dave make none

Perfect!
