I haven't heard any of Mills so far. I listen to Capital on the way to work and then don't bother listening when there. What I have also noticed is that when Chris isnt on I also tend not to listen to Fearne and Greg either. When Chris is on I just stay with the station, but when he isnt I cant be particularly bothered to make the effort.

I am listening to the excellent Nick Grimshaw on the way home from work though. I know Greg James, who is getting more irritating by the day, is considered the rising star of Radio 1 but he isnt a patch on Grimshaw.

Tell me about this Grimshaw fella then, people have been giving him gleeful thumbs up - but not said owt about his personality, presenting style, and does he make you laugh?

Cos right now nothing is gonna make me listen to him, so do appreciate keener radio ears telling me what to listen out for, thanks :)

He does make me laugh. But then I think I have a bit of a crush on him (like Chris said about Tina's dream - part of my 'barking up the wrong tree' series of crushes).

The single best thing about him is that his personality comes across on air. When I listen to a radio DJ I want to hear THEM, not some formulaic routine that the likes of Fearne Cotton peddle. I think he tells stories in an engaging manner and whilst I dont often laugh out loud at him, I definitely find him amusing.

It's strange but I always used to think Grimshaw was just a camp straight bloke!

In the absence of TCMS this week, I've been re-watching the 52-hour marathon, thanks to the excellent DVB-S rips.

So far, I've got to the end of day one, and Grimmy was excellent. Relaxed, witty, fun and good with his guests. I've never listened to his show without Chris being there, but I was impressed with "Grimy".

ISTR the following night featuring Grimmy and Corden doing some hip-hop karaoke, which I'm looking forward to seeing again.

ETA: 11 minutes in to:

That's great to know, cos when he first joined he had this impossible air of niceness which made me cringe, Annie Mac used to go "Grimmmyyy!" like Sharon to Ozzy Osbourne, but now he's settled and I've mellowed I'm happy to give him a go on the basis of what you say there so thanks guys. :)

The radio one bosses clearly love him.I wouldn't be surprised to see him promoted to his own daytime show, maybe as early as next year when the new controller makes his inevitable changes to the schedule. He's certainly more bearable than Greg James I'm sure most of you will agree!

I would like it of that happened. At one point I thought Greg James showed real potential and looked like a decent replacement for Chris when the time comes, but he is annoying now. What is it with him and the ridiculous 'impressions' he does?

He can barely do a link without slipping into some stupid, cringy voice that makes my flesh crawl.

I've also been listening to Grimmy on instead of Scott Mills in the car. I don't know what it is but I find him very easy to listen to. He's very relaxed and engaging in a way that neither Scott nor Greg are in my opinion.

Another thing that irritates me about Scott is that he seems to be in constant competition with himself, concerning how many times he can squeeze "Radio 1" into any sentence he comes out with. I know it's the station ID but he just comes across far too corporate. Maybe the other DJ's bar Chris do this as well but I haven't noticed.

I couldn't stand Grimshaw since I used to listen to him and Annie Mac on the Sunday night but then stopped listening to it since they kind of irritated me but then when I listened to him during the marathon show, he seemed alright and I definitely enjoyed his parts of the marathon more than a good chunk of it. Granted I wouldn't listen to his night show the weeknights I am in work but I believe I can tolerate him now than I did before. Fearne on the other hand will always be annoying to me.

From your point of view, Fearne Cotton is at a real disadvantage then

I'll have to give Nick Grimshaw a listen then, shame to hear that about Greg James as he used to have real potential at one point.

Mills is annoying me this week, more so than the gnat that was buzzing round my ears at 6:30am this morning, what annoys me about his presenting "style" is he seems to stop mid sentance and then plays a song, at least with the other DJ's you can tell when they're coming to the end of a sentance or link, with Mills he'll just stop talking and then a jingle or song is played.

I haven't turned the radio on all week and I've ran out of podcasts. I'm actually listening to iPod music for a change.

I can't face the pressure of choosing music to listen to at 8am. I've been listening to edited shows from this time last year, which are quite nice to hear again as that's the time they went on the night out in Essex.
