The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I know its not aimed at me, but is anyone else finding all this Teen awards shite tedious in the extreme?
Fair enough the actual competition, even though that was like sticking tin foil on a filling, but earlier introducing us to the teachers for what seemed like at least half an hour was just excruciating.

You can tell that they are just being reluctantly corporate, as when that cheeky bitch of a winner asked to sit at Chris' table & he told her that he had other commitments. Then she asked to sit with Aled, who replied that he MAY pop by to say hello.

Guess whose table will be beside the bogs then?

I just couldn't be bothered with the whole thing. Poor Chris had a cold anyway and he just couldn't quite sell this overhyped thing to me well enough this morning. I've been busy enough today so I just got on with other things after the 7:30 link. I hope tomorrow will feel more natural as that is Chris's talent - to turn the awfully corporate into an entertaining link.

I'm with you, Radio 1 really know how to force a boring feature (just like the week long Superstar DJ), and my God that Pixie Lott backing music through it all..

I think you may be missing the point of who the Teen awards are aimed at... Personally i've quite enjoyed the feature, although not at all aimed at me, little bit of competition is always fun. Couldn't give a flying feck about the awards themselves, mind.

Pretty much when something gets shoved down your throats for the past several weeks, you do tend to get annoyed by it and that has been the case with the Teen Awards since they've been going on about since early to mid September. Big Weekend is the same in that they go on about it for a month before the event actually happens and then harp on about it for a few weeks afterwards as well.

I haven't listened to yesterday's show since I was actually off the Sunday night and will be working tonight instead but will give it a listen this week. But I am bored of hearing about it anyway quite frankly. Superstar DJ was the same thing, couldn't care less.

No doubt we'll get all the live performances from the Teen Awards played for the week after too. It is quite boring after so much plugging. And I can't stand that bloody Pixie Lott song that they keep using. Even the imaging around the plugging is getting on my nerves because you hear it so much.

You think the amount of plugging they do for the awards, you think it was the biggest event of the year when it clearly isn't. Heck, I think that lineup is pretty crap even if I was in the demographic for it. i know they have to do this corporate stuff whether they like it or not but I am sure a lot of people out there like myself are sick to death of it.

I haven't always been irritated by big plugging fests. For example - something restricted to the CMS in 2007 was the Kaiser Chiefs gig in Doncaster. They managed to make it sound like the gig of the century and I didn't care cos it was fun them playing the 'Donny' parody everyday. It sounded good, and wasn't a station-wide project.

Yep lots of vox pops featuring a load of morons shouting "Thank you Radio 1!" etc. repeated every other segues.

Between the rise of the corporate BS and the deluge of guests I've no interest in (today being a prime example) I've been listening to less and less of the show recently. Just have to switch over for the duration of those features.

EDIT thinking about corporate BBC BS reminded me of an interview with John Peel's old producer John Walters talking about when R1 gets 'worthy' (0:50 in)

That documentary is one of the best shows about radio you'll ever get to see, but this one is the better.

I think the tedium peaked when Matt went to the school in Woking to try and get the kids' reaction to the line-up. Who in their right mind would think a bunch of kids cheering monotonously could be considered good radio? It was awful.

Especially as not more than thirty seconds into the feature, they said that the children had been told to cheer and applaud on queue.

I must admit I thought it'd be quite novel and might be a good laugh to get spontaneous reaction from children without any professional enthusiasm getting in the way.

But what's the point in coaching their response before hand, you may as well just play a recording of some clapping.

I hate to pick, but I listened to that again when I was doing the Tedious and what he said was "I'll definitely come by and say hello."
