The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Leave the GH alone, if Golden Hour was to go, the same thing that happens when people clamour for change will happen- namely once the requested change happens, people will find something new to complain about without caring about the changes made. Leave the show as it is, it's popular for a reason.

Yeah shout-outs, for when ya goin to Alton Towers.

I think the year is 2007, when the feature began.

Aint that the truth.

It's one of the rare occassions that the music is worth listening too.

Please tell me I am not the only one that thinks that Jay-Z & Kayne West Otis song is tedious as hell

It's one of the few songs I like.

Albeit I'd never buy it, because while I like it, I don't like it that much. Every other day and/or when I'm out on the lash is quite enough.

Can i say that today's Golden Hour was one of the better ones, and even though 2 minutes of the utterly class & wheeker 'Nancy Boy' is enough to turn even Fern Cotton's show worthwhile, i was annoyed that they didn't play it all or even mention the song's name. They even managed to avoid the the words 'nancy boy' in the song's lyric. I know they're being a wee bit over zealous in the 'not wanting to offend any complaining arseholes' department, but such behaviour does tend to negate the entire message of that song. Unless of course no-one actually listened to the lyrics first.

"Eye holes in a paper bag, greatest lay I ever had" is such a great lyric. I always loved the way he sings that.

Sixties & early seventies stuff.

They didn't have quite as many years to choose from then as there are now, though. Even if they were prepared to take any year in chart history, the charts began in 1952, so that only gives 25 potential years. 25 years now takes us back to 1985 - so the current Golden Hour doesn't even stretch back that far, let alone take in all the potential years we now have to choose from.

I particularly remember working on a farm during the summer of 1990 and hearing American Pie / stealers wheel, so that'd be 71/72.

But I also have a vague recollection of it being later in the morning rather than 9-10, so maybe the working audience was the reason for that.

I'd say i'm undecided as some weeks i get to hear a good song i might not have heard for a long time but most times i just skip the guess the year part as due to BBC guidelines it can't be anything prior to 1990 when music obviously didn't exist according to the music committee numpty's or maybe it was just former exec producer Piers, anyway it makes it fairly easy to choose what year it is. Plus as some of you have noted do get a fairly large rotation of the same songs, which is my main problem with another music based feature on TCMS.

I wouldn't mind if they did ditch that part but kept the 2ND half where the team choose a track you get some great songs and to guess which one of the team usually Matt Fincham will be ridiculed for their choice.

Or maybe extend the 'presenters choice' to an hour...

Or hand it over to Dom, given he consistently chooses superb records.

Dom's are always hit and miss. His musical taste seems to be very limited.

You think?

I had him down for being one of the more diverse musical ears on the team...
