This isn't supposed to come across as all "Oh aren't Chris and team amazing". But, why is it every time I get in to the car of someone who doesn't listen to Radio 1, the station sounds the same all the time? It's always unfunny radio-voiced DJ's talking about some rubbish and playing Orson.

There isn't even a point to this thread, I just felt like listening to Radio Aire and immediately regretted my decision and went to Moyles on iPlayer. :/

I often get lifts to and from work with a colleague who has Real Radio on in his car, and it's so awful it actually makes me physically cringe. You're right, the DJs sound so unnatural and like they're desperately searching for something funny to talk about. It's only when you hear stuff like that that you can really appreciate that natural-sounding flow of conversation that you get with Chris and the team.

Just catching up on some podcasts and I listened to the Ibiza DJ competition one. Without blowing too much smoke up Chris' ass, his handling of the contestants was fantastic. Almost immediately they were made to feel part of the show, there was a rapport built from the moment he started talking to them, he was engaging, humourous, interested, and this is on a topic that he's not particularly over-keen on (dance music) on a feature that he was merely bigging up in preparation for Scott's show.

I can't think of any other DJ or team that could have made such good, consistent radio with that feature without either taking the piss out of them (as opposed to the gentle ribbing they received), talking irrelevant nonsense, being overly wacky or stumbling through the interviews.
