No, I don't mean we physically can't, I mean it's against the principles of the site to do so.

I'm a moderator on a different forum (another radio deee-jay) and If someone starts a thread in the main forum deemed particularly stupid, I move it to a separate, less prominent sub-forum called "The Retarded Alamo" (long story).

Maybe you could create a special section for those "special" threads?

Well a change in policy regarding deletions is needed then. From past site mentions on air, the team don't seem to be particularly pleased with all the self moderation going on here...

About time the site showed some cojones in my opinion and deleted the rubbish sighted in this thread.

Really? Matt? Is this what your put on your application?..
Is that what you said in your interview?..
.."I'm a producer."
~
Or maybe you thought you were 'funny' enough to be an active member of the show.
A show full of professional (Vitty an exception) funnies.
Wel, Matt, your not.
Your not in the least bit funny.
Also a sexist, the way you once spoke to Tina was effing disgusting.
~
Enjoy your free, gravy train fuelled ride on the BBC (taxpayer), but please think about your future.

I just don't like your participatory role in the CLASSIC that is the Chris Moyles Show.

Oi! With all due respect, shut up.

Every listener has a right to their opinion, but no-one has a right to personal attacks, especially uninformed ones.

For the record, I invited him on air to do two links (Leeds and Liverpool) that reflected the message of the show very well. Every decision Freya and I make is run by Chris to ensure his buy-in so you can also add Chris to the list of people that wants Matt to do what he does.

Matt is an Assistant Producer and he does that role very well. In my view The Chris Moyles show has a very strong production team, and the strength of show is a reflection of that. That is what Matt is paid to do. It's extra to our roles that we talk on air.

No-one on The Chris Moyles Show is sexist. The BBC would not allow sexist people to broadcast on air or behave in that way in the office.

Please stop it with the attention seeking threads because they hurt the team you claim to love and cause damage.

8) :D

This. We should have a "Sin Bin" sub-forum where all the threads that shouldn't really have happened get placed.

Just to add, I also agree with everything Aled said! :D

Nothing to do with 'cojones'. The topic poster's point is 'rubbish' and has been called out as being such - where's the benefit in deleting it?

Not an atrocious idea, but I don't think it's particularly necessary. This type of thread doesn't really come up often enough to require their own forum; and besides, having them separated will only highlight them more, which is what some people are aiming for - better to let them fall down the list.

We don't use it much, but it's still useful.
On my forum, it really is buried. Unless you do a "New Posts" search, you're not likely to see it. It's at the bottom of the forums page and if you're not logged in, you won't see it all. This means it less likely to be seen by passing trolls. It works for us.

Hi All

Long time reader, first time poster...

Just wanted to say that I read quite a few forums and agree that leaving the posts to run their course and stay in the appropriate forum is the best way because other members will learn from the mistakes of people like this guy and soon learn that behavior like that isn't tolerated. If you just delete it or hide it away somewhere (as good as deleting it) then you'll just end up doing the same thing for some other idiot a week later.

If anything once the thread has run its course (like this one pretty much has) then consider locking it maybe, but I think they need to be left as a warning to others.

I like all the members of the team past or present since I started listening and don't get why Matt gets a lot of stick. He isn't my favourite member of the team but he does have some good moments every now and then.

QWERTY & Dave Bedford should set up their own "I hate Dave" Club. Dave isn't the sharpest tool in the shed now but frankly there are people more famous than he is and a lot less talented since he comes up with silly features, great parody songs etc whereas some of them get their baps out and act like idiots on TV or whatnot.

Love the fact Aled replied to the guy and pretty much hit the nail on the head. If you don't like someone or something, just say that and not go on a full blown tirade about it.

But this is an 'unofficial' fan site - it has nothing to do with the BBC, Radio 1 or the show, and so what the team think of our moderating is really neither here nor there. I'm glad Aled kicked this idiot's ass - he thoroughly deserved it - but the reason this site can exist as it is is that it's independent from BBC rules and regulations. I think it would be a very different site if we had to conform to BBC policy.

Well, you lot (!) obviously pity/like FINCHAM, lol.
Although I did take on board what you said, bagged it 'n' binned it.
As for the idiot who mentioned deleting posts, what happened to the first amendment? The freedom of speech and expression?
If you wanna go down the root of a press dictatorship, make your own site.

Freedom of speech is not the issue here, which is why I suspect your posts weren't deleted when Aled rightly took offence to them. The issue is more the fact that you created three derogatory threads in as many days in a blatant attempt to get mentioned on the air.

The first amendment was an amendment to the American constitution. We're in the UK, dimwit. Maybe try doing a bit of research before you start accusing us of contravening the law? Also, I think you mean 'route'.

No, the laws of free speech do not apply on the internet, especially on a message board because of the fact that it is privately owned and therefore it is the right of the webmaster to make whatever rules he sees fit. And because you have to agree with the terms and conditions of the site before posting you sign away any right to argue these points.

Why are we arguing the case for free speech here? If his posts had been censored then I could understand it, but they haven't have they?

As far as I can tell here, someone who has NOT been censored is complaining about censorship, and the people who think his views are crap (that's pretty much all of us) are defending his right to post them?

Unless it is our freedom to denounce his freely posted opinions as ridiculous that he is challenging?

That hole of Qwerty's is getting really deep. He should stop digging.
