Maybe I'm wrong and you've just been lucky, but i don't think that's the case. When you talk about something you're passionate about you come across really well, then you play the thicko and it makes me cringe.

This isn't meant as a dig by the way, just an observation.

Haha, suggesting I 'play dumb' isn't an observation. Saying I come across as thick is.

For right or wrong I have never lied on air - 100% honest. I'm all about people standing up and being honest if you don't know something (or in my case don't get something) I should say. I do this because 1) I'm the host of The Surgery so I like the idea that people can feel comfortable calling me on a Sunday with stupid questions because if you don't know something it's not stupid - you just don't know it yet. 2) I work with Chris who will sniff out if I'm pretending to know something and I'll look even more stupid when he highlights that.

Why do I come across so badly? Chris is very good at running with situations and me presenting him with that honesty is a gift for him which benefits the show, and also Chris, Dom and Dave are very similar in their likes and dislikes and I think if I don't know something that they do (or visa versa) I can sound like an outsider very easily. But I try and remember that there will be plenty of people out there who also won't know what I don't know - as our 'I'm Not Stupid But...' feature proves.

I know I'm not thick, in my areas I know I'm good at what I do - I wouldn't be Chris' producer on Radio 1's Breakfast Show if I wasn't, so I'm quite comfortable with people making assumptions about my intelligence.

I wouldn't say you come across bad at all, what I was trying to say was something along the lines of: do you play dumb at times for comedic effect?

I honestly thought that's what you were doing. Playing dumb to give the team sticks to beat you with for the good of the show, because it is very entertaining.
Obviously I don't know Chris at all, apart from the judgement I've formed about him in the 10 or so years I've listened to him, so I dont know how good he will be at sussing something like that out.

When you have a link where there is nothing planned and the team essentially talk about 'random crap' like Chris' DVD collection for example is it at all planned? For example, during the record before would Chris or anyone say, "So, what are we going to talk about next?" or does it just come naturally out of the record?

"How much of the show is scripted?" ;)

No. Chris opens the mic and starts the conversation. At most Chris will sometimes say to me 'oh remind me about DVDs later' but even then you'll normally hear me do that on air :)

Morning Aled, here's a random idea if you read this, try and get the word 'chandelier' into the opening link this morning. Make no reference to this message but it would be a nice in joke for us lot.

Or not... :D

At a guess I think it's because Tina and Dom are staff so are on a contracted and also Scott is doing his Edinburgh shows the 2nd week so wouldn't be on breakfast. Also Aled I think there should be a slimmed down show at the weekends occasionally (cover for Vernon/Sara?) with Chris Moyles Gold :)

Dom isn't staff anymore, He's freelance like Dave & Chris.

I'm guessing they're only having a week off coz Sara Cox on her own wouldn't be very entertaining at all.

Aled, sorry if this has already been asked and answered, but is there any chance of there ever being a daily free download of the show rather than a weekly one? 45 minutes of highlights from 17.5 hours of broadcasting every week isn't really very much.

This sounds like good news to me. When 2014 comes and Moyles reign at Radio 1 ends then the show will live on almost untouched on another station.

Aled can you give any hints or clues as to what the Friday feature is with Sara when she covers you lot? Dave seems to suggest a very hard listen but if it's his idea then it could be confusingly funny.

I'm not sure that it will. I don't think Chris' ego will let him work anywhere other than Radio1.

But money talks I suppose.

Is there anyway in which the show could avoid tedium like the DJ competition?

Corporate features are best left for Fearne/Scott etc. This is taking up prime time radio and there's far better stuff you could be talking about although Dom's attempt at MC'ing was hilarious.

Yeah it's definitely his dream to be a big deal in America. He always mentions how they broadcast there and explains Britishisms for them, but i think its safe to 99% of yanks don't have a clue who he is.

Next time there's a big American star on the show, listen out for how many times he's on twitter and asks them to follow him.

Definitely his dream is it?
