That was specifically related to the line "Scottish isn't English" - strikes me as odd that a people (or just person) could be so uncomfortable with their own identity that they'd bother saying "we're not English". So it makes me chuckle suggesting that really they wish they were.

I'm of England, not from England by the way, before you ask.

Yeah there is a faction within Scotland that would say that "Scottish isn't English". It could be in reference to that they feel that when ever something is said about Great Britain or United Kingdom people say English outside and within the UK, for e.g. The Future King of ENGLAND in respect to The Duke of Cambridge. There are people that like myself, do get annoyed with that when respected broadcasters say that.

"Auch haud yer wheesht Tim" was my fav Scottish phrase when I lived up there. My Geography teacher would say it all the time to me :D But yous central folk fae glasgae n tha' havnae go' anyhin on the proper Scots up aroond Aberdeenshire, they talk wi a differen dialect completely, I didnae ken half o the hings they were sayin when I was there.
