The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Can't believe I'm the first poster - did a search to no avail - please move if I'm in the wrong place.

Well, I'm from Bath.

A Bathonian has their own distinctive accent - I am not from Bristol!
Being a Bath resident does not mean that we all live in the Royal Crescent.
Bath is in Somerset, always has been...Avon was a bureacratic fictional area.
When I say I'm in Bath, I'm not in the bath.
Bath is pronounced with a longish "ah" sound, not a short sharp "agh" sound.
Bath is home to Tesco, Sainsbury's & Waitrose (but no Lidl or Aldi :( )
Bath has some of the dearest car park charges in the country.
Bath has a manic one way system - you can see where you want to be, but you just can't drive there (look at Westgate Buildings to front of Theatre Royal)

I love the Scottish is ........ thing on Radio 1. As someone who lives in Scotland and was born here it is true. My nationality isn't Scottish, I define myself as British. Scotland is amazing country but i can't wait to get out of it.

When it suited me for free prescriptions, free university fees, free old age care

Trust you heard the feature this morning.

What does it mean to be born in Grouchville? 8)

I didn't hear it and I haven't caught up yet. Grouchville is fine! Not as lovely as Bath though, gorgeous place.

Bath is a great place to visit, parking is pants though especially for a weekend stay when you won't need your car: give me a shout, you can park up chez moi, and I'll drop you back into the centre.

I am loving the mickey take Chris does with the whole thing. Just find it quite funny.

Well Scottish for me is spending a year back in 05-06 in Napier University in Edinburgh getting a BSc degree in Software Technology and not having the most memorable time there due to flatmates who were opposites to me in terms of social and drinking etc.

My dad's dad was Scottish apparently. Of course if you have a tenuous link like that to a claim of being Irish, you are supposed to say that you are Irish. Not sure if that works with Scottish also, but either way, its bollocks, I have nothing to do with Scottishness whatever the birthright of my parents or grandparents.

Actually maybe Scottish does mean something to me - its the nationality of the people who come from a place I'd like to visit.

I haven't even heard it yet, so I suspect my contribution is irrelevant anyway. I'm guessing.

Edinburgh is a lovely city to visit especially the old town part of it and went to visit Edinburgh castle when i was there during my uni tenure. Some of the commericals promoting Scotland tourism on TV make it look like a beautiful country to visit amongst places I've seen. Only been to Edinburgh and St.Johnstone's (back in 94) but seen a chunk of the country travelling from Stanraer to Edinburgh with my parents when I was moving there shortly before starting university. I actually want to go back to Edinburgh again for a little break though since while my university year wasn't great, I loved the city.

Did they stay in darkened rooms eating pizza, drinking coke and never leaving the house?

That should read:

Did they stay in darkened rooms eating deep fried Mars bars, drinking Irn Bru and never leaving the squat?

:D

Personally I find gobbing off and having a go about things I have no practical knowledge of is a good way of exercising the mind...

No, that was me! :P I'm not the outgoing type who goes out every weekend etc and get's pissed drinking (don't drink) and they were and sometimes they were up all night with music on full blast while I was trying to sleep but the bed wasn't comfortable really to begin with and was glad to be rid of it when my time was done. To be honest, it wasn't bad all the time since we had good times playing games like Mario Kart Double Dash and me whipping their asses every time.

I'll be honest here I'm flabbergasted. How can people live like that? I mean they're supposed to be studying and learning and for the love of God, not listening to music and drinking booze.

IT SOUNDS LIKE A LIVING HELL.

You'll be telling us they spoke to gurls next.
