The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

The two features with Dom and Aled definetly justified the big and bold ads this week.

It was clear from both videos that Al or Dom certainly were not faking anything. As uncomfortable as it was for the pair, it made great radio. Was funny to hear Aled mentioning about trying to keep it radio relevant and holding on to a few swears!

My thoughts for the first two tasks would have for Tina to absail down the building, and for Dave to be locked in a box for 5 minutes..or something like that!!

Loved today's Face your fears. Dom you gave it your best shot and i don't think anyone
could take that away from you. It was a very hard challenge. I'd love to do something
like that myself, but im sure i'd bottle it at the last minute aswell. You did go up in
the plane, so i still take my hat of to you. I was hoping for a good weather report as
you were coming down though. Aled i must say your video was the best. It had everything.
Loved Chris scaring Fearne and her calling him an idiot. Your totally right Aled, it's the way
they scurry about and the legs. Saw a bit of Julian Clary in you today. I think 80% of the
population would of acted the same way you did. Hate spiders, even the little ones.

I thought this all made for a pretty entertaining weeks radio. OK, so Dave's was a bit of a joke and certainly something not helped by the visual elements - this is where radios 'theatre of the mind' would have sufficed. But other than that, it was all good stuff. Tina's was good, especially with the reaction of the team when the cameraman panned down.

There's a whole different argument to be had about the whole visualisation thing, and whilst I appreciate Aled's explanation that it's now an integral part of Radio 1, I still thing visualisation on the breakfast show is an incredibly hard thing to get decent viewing figures for, simply because a peak time when these events are happening, the majority of the audience are commuting to work, getting ready or even asleep. This is made tougher with live streaming through mobiles or TV - it's all the harder to get people tuning in. On-demand content is another matter, and one I think they should focus their efforts on. Bearing that in mind, it's disappointing that they can't put the raw video content onto the website as opposed to edited highlights. The reactions of the team to their forthcoming challenges (a pretty integral part) isn't available in video on-demand - something I'd love to see but can't. The massive success of the iPlayer has led the audience to expect the full content available to watch later, not just heavily edited highlights.

Other than that little moan, I think the week has been a success and, more importantly, good radio so congratulations have to go to Aled and the team for that.

Bloody hell, we've properly hung, drawn and quartered this feature haven't we? I can't remember the last time one feature generated such a long thread in such a short space of time.

I disagree completely.

Tina, Dom, Dave's (appeal to let him do the second challenge) and I all did our challenges because of the money-can't-buy prizes. If the prizes weren't there we would have said, no it's fine. Tina and Dom both told me that, I felt that and I know Dave attempted the second challenge because he didn't want his prize taken away from him were it judged to have been too easy.

I completely agree - which is why every now and then when I walk past influential member of our interactive team I say 'how long before we can stream to phones?' and they 'it's on it's way'.

Fingers crossed it's before the end of this year. That's when the numbers get proper silly and it becomes truly interactive.

I think he deserves his prize aswell. Anyone who prefers to drive 12 hour's to his holiday destination has a real phobia of flying. Dom did well.

He did indeed. He was in Majorca if I recall rightly. I guess he'll fly when he absolutely has to...

I do remember that now.

That's what we British do best :)

Sorry if I sound harsh, but i don't think he does. His challenge was to skydive, and he didn't do it.

He's flown in planes and helicopters before, so while he may not like it, I wouldn't exactly call it facing a fear when he's done it a number of times beforehand. As I said above, his challenge wasn't to fly in a plane, it was to jump out of plane. He failed.

I was bricking it when i did mine, so I know the fear he went through being in the doorway of a plane at 13,000 feet. I did mine for charity, i couldn't have asked sponsors for their money if I hadn't have jumped. This isn't any different.

I know, but think of the faces of those 3 children's faces

but he wasted £250 of BBC license fee money

If you go up and dont jump, you don't get a refund.

I do feel sorry for the guy, if he'd just gone another 5 seconds, he wouldn't have had a choice in jumping or not. You're strapped to the instructor, so once your at the door, you're jumping whether you like it or not.
