Are you messing?

I'd sooner jump out of a plane than do what Aled's doing.

There's no way I'd even be in the same room. I'd have knocked that bellend telling him to turn around as well.

Frigging hell.

Ha, Trevor the spider handler just said blowjob!

Poor Dom, in a way he completed his challenge of overcoming his fear of flying. It was cruel to give him the fear of jumping out to deal with.
Going up in a stunt plane and doing a loop would have been a better challenge as once he'd have taken off it would have been out if his control to back out.

Well done Dom!

I don't like spiders either, but realistically however creeped out I might be by one (and I would never voluntarily be in the vicinity of one, believe me), I know its not going to kill me (well, the big hairy ones won't). Jumping out of a plane however....

Poor Dom. I know that he is going to regret that at some point and he knows it. Yeah its obviously very scary but its a once in a lifetime experience but I can see why he would not go through with it at the last minute, it must be really scary.

And well done Aled, although I don't think it was quite as scary as he was making out. I would have done it, but then again I'm not scared of spiders

The death bit isn't the issue for me. You know what, if you told me it was a 50/50 for not opening, I'd still go parachute.

There was a jungle animals BBC documentary a few years back, they trailed it was the quest to find a chicken eating spider, I think in Ecuador or Peru - I decided I was going to watch it, and try to learn a bit, you know, maybe it'd help. I'll watch it in bed, that way I can pull the cover over me if it gets bad.

They got a little toy car, stuck a camera on it, and drove it down the funnel into the spider's nest, or den, or lair or whatever it is. I could feel me toes scrunching up and my legs twitching before they'd even put it in. I broke my finger on the bedside table when mother spider decided to have a look and see what was going on.

Parachute jump. Any. Day. of. the. Week

Well done Aled! I'm arachnophobic and was put in a similar position a few months ago, I couldn't do it.

Gutted for Dom though, as Ben said, he'll probably regret not taking that opportunity one day, but he just couldn't take that final leap. No shame about that.

Well done Aled. You have shown me that I can beat my fear so I am thanks to you and the team. So proud of you

Go Aled!

Aled, if Radio 1 are pushing this 'watch' tag line, can you at least ask them to stop using Flash video's? Us iPad users are pretty screwed with all these videos......

Should have got a Motorola Xoom...

Aled - massive well done on your challenge, having lived with people with arachnophobia for most of my life (mainly my mum), I can understand who terrifying an ordeal it must have been. That said, a phobia is a very personal thing and the only challenge I'm unsure I could have done from the week is Dom's - I would LOVE to try though.

Also - seeing as Dom was the only one who was asked to go over and above his fear of flying and he actually did face his fear, even if he didn't strictly complete the challenge, I personally think his kids should get the prize.

I’ve been listening to Chris Moyles for many years and over those years have heard many, many features. This is the only one that has compelled me to vent my frustration though as it was so poor.

Apart from the massive hype, the overblown claims of it being the “toughest game”, the needless inclusion and pandering to Fearne Cotton’s schedule, the whole thing was a massive anti-climax.

I’m merely echoing many other posters when I say how disappointed I was that this massive feature was effectively made for the small viewing audience rather than for the millions who have audio only. It smacks of contempt for the millions who listen each day with a “sod you” attitude. I appreciate that you should embrace modern technology and all forms of media but as the show is primarily a RADIO show, features should at the very least attempt to engage the listening audience rather than (rather lazily IMO) revert to simply letting the pictures do the talking.

For example, on Chris’ challenge, there was a massive build up to releasing the dog but when it actually happened and it ‘attacked’ Chris, I wasn’t actually aware the climax of the challenge had happened until someone mentioned it. Obviously, if viewing online you’d have seen it all taking place but as a listener I was unaware what was happening and left rather underwhelmed.

On Dom’s challenge today, the majority of the audio was muffled due to the wind and although it was apparent what was going on, as an audio experience it was quite poor.

But rather than be completely negative, there is some positivity after all of this:
1) The feature has now finished
2) I won’t have to listen to Fearne Cotton any more as I stop listening well before 10:00.

So it’s not all bad……..

Each to their own.....

I've loved the feature!! Apart from Daves 1st challenge, each team member has had to do something they would never normally do, and would not enjoy.... I thought it made for entertaining Radio.

I even thought Dave's was hilarious - for all the wrong reasons, but hilarious nonetheless. I'm looking forward to catching up with today's bits, sounds like it was a good day.

Well, as expected, Aled was by far the best value for money in terms of entertaining radio. I've just watched the video too, which is even funnier, and does prove that having the added visual element is a definite bonus sometimes. It turns out I was wrong about Dom, but I don't blame him for not being able to jump out when the time came, you wouldn't catch me doing that in a million years.

I think a far more manageable and fairer challenge for him would have involved lifts, another one of his genuine fears. I used to have a phobia/fear (where is the line drawn between the two?) of getting stuck in a lift for as long as I can remember, to the extent that I would refuse to set foot inside a lift, even if we were staying on a very high floor in a hotel. On family childhood holidays my poor dad would often have to leave my mum and brother to go up the room in the lift, and then trek up many many flights of stairs with me.

One day when I was in my early twenties and on holiday with friends I was literally shoved into a lift (they knew about my phobia and thought it would be funny) and started panicking straight away. Then, after we'd gone up just one floor, my lifelong fear came through and the lift stopped between floors! To cut a long story short, we were stuck there for a good while before we got out, and I did end up shouting, screaming, and then fainting. But...it somehow cured my fear and I now have no problem using lifts at all. So there's my own little '(inavertently) Facing Your Fear' story, which I suppose goes to show that facing them can sometimes really work.

welcome to the forum. your overly negative views shall fit in well here.

Hang on - one complaint in "many years" can't really be labelled "overly negative"! Specifically negative maybe, but he can spell and construct a couple of paragraphs of writing so that they make sense - makes up for a lot as far as I'm concerned!
